Harris' tax proposals

Harris has backed Biden's tax proposals and here are a couple of the major points.

28% Corporate tax
44.6% Capital gains tax
25% Unrealized Capital gains tax

The corporate tax: what this means is that corporations are going to have to either raise their prices, reduce their work force or pay employees less or all three. This is what some here would call corporate greed vs the realities of economics.

The capital gains tax: what this means is that any time someone sells a stock, home, business, etc roughly half the value gained is immediately gone.

The unrealized capital gains tax: what this means is that anyone that owns a home, stock, business etc will be taxed 25% of their value gained WITHOUT SELLING IT. This is the most insane proposal of the 3. That means that a large number of private businesses will instantly struggle to survive because that tax will sap the entirety of their income for a year.

Someone that supports Kamala please tell me why you would vote for this. Something intelligent outside of simply that she isn't the orange man. Someone please tell me you vote for policy and not the person. Explain why this is good policy.

Credit Monitoring Service

Anyone use a credit monitoring service?

I finally got hit by someone attempting to steal my identity (how sad do you have to be to want to be me, but whatever). Someone put a hold on our mail with the post service and was going to steal our mail, found one new credit card opened but got it closed before there were any charges to it, nothing else on any of the credit reports and all are now frozen. So hopefully that is taken care of.

But got me thinking, maybe I should sign up for a credit monitoring service. So, who do you use or recommend as apparently there are several now? Would be a family of 4, I guess Aura sounds like the best option for that but was curious if anyone had any experience or thoughts.

Are You better off today than 4 years ago?

Just got back from the new Reagan movie. Pretty good imo. Noted, I am a huge Reagan fan. His wisdom took me from a 3rd generation Dem to now voting mostly Republican.

A key line.... "Are you better off today, than 4 years ago?"

And for me, not close. As this admin has cost me over $37,500 in extra expenses these past 4 years with high grocery, insurance, gas & energy prices. Even had to dip into my retirement account a bit. That wasn't the plan. Way less vacations & travel.

I imagine this is the case across most American families. Hopefully reasonable people admit that, and vote accordingly.

Kamala Harris sparks fury as US musician hits out at ‘blatantly racist and sexist’ campaign"

US musician Alexis Wilkins has taken aim at Kamala Harris’s “blatantly racist and sexist” presidential bid.

Speaking to Steven Edginton on GBN America, Wilkins said the Democrats have an obsession with “luxury issues” and aren’t focusing enough on the legitimate concerns of voters.

She also argued the Democrats are too focused on promoting Harris’s background as a black woman.

“Their play here is pretty racially driven and I would venture to call it racist”, she said
)
“It’s also sexist, saying that someone should vote for something based on the colour of their skin or gender. It’s blatantly racist and sext.

“It’s against a meritocracy. It’s pretty delusional to think that you’re going to get an entire population or an entire demographic to vote for you just because you say, ‘look, I am the girl boss of this generation’ or however the left would put it.

Purdue recruiting Marcello Vitti breaks down Purdue visit, why he booked return trip so soon

2026 four-star safety Marcello Vitti just caught his first Purdue game on Saturday and is already set to return later this month. He broke down why with Boiler Upload

“They treat me like a big priority, and I'm gonna do the same with them.”

Thoughts on today

1. Indinia State is really bad.
2. Only negatives really are 11-110 and 82.
3. No idea how that was roughing the passer. Quarterback still had the ball when the contact started. Didn't look like he was put to the ground excessively.
4. Really like Rigby.
5. 1-2 punch at RB looks to be awesome.
6. Great crowd! No surprise that it emptied out quite a bit after halftime.
7..........holding penalties??? SEVEN???

Around the country....
1. Has Billy Napier been fired yet?
2. I hate Notre Dame.
3. Oregon = meh. Gabriel's stats are way too good for them to only have 14 points (currently).
4. UCLA = blech
5. I watched a lot of the South Carolina game. Boy do they stink.
6. Cubs win again!

Hudson Card Tied NCAA Single Game Completion % record at 96%

This record has been held by Greyson Lambert from Georgia since 2016 where he went 24/25 to beat South Carolina. He had 330 yards and 3 TDs. Yesterday Hudson Card went 24/25 in a win against Indiana State with 273 yards and 4 TDs. (Record is minimum 20 attempts)

Also, Card completed 24 of 25 passes for 273 yards and four touchdowns before exiting in the third quarter with a 35-0 lead over Indiana State. Card's 96% completion rate is the best in a single game in Boilermakers history.

Hudson for the Heisman? You heard it here first.

Purdue - UC Davis volleyball

Purdue won easily over UC Davis in volleyball on Sunday to win the Staci Clark Classic championship with a 3-0 record. Sets were 25-18, 25-19 and 25-18.
My first time watching the team in Holloway this season, really enjoyed being there.
Prior to the game we listened to Coach Shondell in the situation room. One of the things he mentioned was that he was not happy with the team’s passing in their first two games. The passing was much better versus UC Davis, which made the game so much easier.
He also said that they are trying to develop a right side presence, which they tried but were unable to do last year. They were very successful hitting on the right side in this game.
Raven Colvin played very well with the exception of her serving. After she had a couple of early serving errors, Coach Shondell subbed in Rachel Williams to serve for her the rest of the way.
The team still had trouble with service errors, 9 for the game. Chicoine had one service error where she nearly hit the Block Party on the fly.
