So "Peace in Our Time" only applies as long as we don't have to provide troops.

And thus it is strictly a matter of who pays for the defense of wealthy European countries who spend far more on elaborate social programs than they do on defense. And you and the other libs think that should be US taxpayers, who the Europeans view as chumps.
You’re making a point of substance; not sure why you felt the need to end the post with labeling and name calling.

But yes “don't have to put American troops into harms way” is a real factor. Of course it’s not the only factor but if we can exert American influence and help democracies that will be allies? There’s incredible long term value in that.

IU is happy

I am not pissed because IU fans are happy. I am pissed by how bad our team is doing, which is completely independent of IU fans. We have spent big amount of money on improved facilities, coaches and assistant coaches. We should be at least competitive in our games, but we have shown no signs of life. Maybe with Harrell leaving, that will right the ship some. If not, fire Walters and go after a new coach.
Correct. The sad part about our current state is that marginal improvement for us will look like Walters crafted a miracle where for any other team it’s just how a season evolves after reps.

If IU pulls off this class of Sisley/ Mullins/Haralson/Reibe.....

He just got another top 100 commit in Ryder Frost. Evidently a 6’6” 3 point sniper with solid all around game. He played with CJ Cox. I’m hoping we can beat ND out for Singleton if it comes down to us two.
I don’t think singleton would go there with them signing a player earlier who plays the same position. However, I guess the same could be said about us having a lot jam at the 3 and 4 next year. Northwestern seems to be our main competition for him from what was posted earlier on here.

Yep, that was another foolish blunder by another Democratic president, Bill Clinton. Clinton argued that the world would be safer if there were fewer nukes. Unfortunately, the opposite happened. There would be no war in Ukraine right now if Ukraine still had those nuclear warheads.
Lol. The rabbit hole keeps pulling you deeper.

I understand the mutually assured destruction doctrine that argues we are safer with more nukes but the cold war is over. There's a reason we have been trying to reduce the number of nukes for over 50 years. I guess you have to argue more nukes makes the world safer so your blame Ukraine argument still works.

There would be no war in Ukraine if Russia had lived up to their commitments laid out in the Budapest Memorandum. Ukraine gave up the nukes to satisfy Russia and make them feel safe. Ukraine was rewarded with an invasion........and getting blamed for it by illogical MAGA idiots.

Walters

I know a lot of people on here compare Walters to Hazell, which is justified given the record and performance to date. With that said, I find Coach Walters infinitely more likable, humble, and someone that I genuinely want to do well here.

I abandoned Hazell about 3 games into his tenure, but if Walters can hold this team and his recruiting class together after the abysmal start to this season, I think he deserves our support. His defense is showing clear improvement and he is now making obvious effort to repair the inept offense that has held him back since he got here. He also appears to be more disappointed than any of us with the results on the field, which tells me he cares about what is happening here vs. just cashing a check.

So far, I think his biggest mistake has been in trusting the wrong person with his Offense whilst having an unforgiving schedule. Although obvious self-preservation, I think pulling the trigger on Harrell is more than just a symbolic act and and actually gives Walters a chance to rebound. Hopefully he course corrected before it's too late.

Not explicitly but the Ukrainians wanted security assurances from the US and the UK in the Budapest Memorandum because they felt once they gave up their nuclear weapons, Russia would attack them. What a shock, they did. Implicit in the agreement was that the US and UK would defend Ukraine if they were attacked.

How do you even fix this offense?

Oh wow he told you personally that he was chased off? Like Walters told him before the IU game to take a hike?
Didn’t go down like that exactly. There was a dispute…about something not directly football related. It spiraled. He left.

It’s been said before that this coach wanted SEC size and speed and that’s why he didn’t care about keeping Sheffield around and that was corroborated to me.

Truly feel IU is NOT…

Indiana is probably still more talented thanks to the portal. Those JMU dudes are good. Indiana has one of the best WR/RB rooms in the conference. That along with a good system is leading to wins so far. 21 rushing TDs by 8 guys and 12 receiving TDs by 7 guys. It's just been that kind of year so far. How far will it continue? No clue. But just need one more win for bowl eligibility. At that point, playing with house money.

Nope.

That's where I draw the line.

Nebraska at Purdue: MASTER DISCUSSION THREAD

Was at your place a few years back for the Nebraska-Purdue game. We won a close one. I just want to say it was my only time at Purdue and I had a blast. Purdue fans were awesome. Drunk and fun, just as I like it. You guys deserve better. Maybe Walters can turn it around. But as a Nebraska fan who has tasted the bitter pill of revolving door failed coaches I can only say I feel your pain. Try and have fun this year even if it sucks. We have gotten good at that.

Ok, then should we commit US troops to defend Ukraine?

That is the logical extension of your argument, and KatJM23's (and possibly 95, whose ravings are not entirely clear).

Nope.

That's where I draw the line.

By the time you realize someone isn’t working out…

100% agree. I complained about him last year and this year yet was told he was the greatest thing ever essentially.

Now he's fired and we're left with a gap mid-season on an already struggling team. This is effectively WORSE than the Hazell years.
It’s funny how that group of posters has almost completely disappeared.
