Looks like it's a done deal...

People the head coach for a major program is the CEO of football. They don't need to know everything. But they do need to hire the right people to be successful. Odom has shown he could do that. Any successful coordinator will want to be head college someday. That's just how it works. Overall I think this a good hire considering the dumpster fire we had in the last couple of years. Boiler Up.

Top gaurd teams in B1G in no order:

Ohio State
Illiniois
Rutgers (Harper alone puts them up there)
Oregon
Penn St
Wisconsin


Not having a 3rd consistent gaurd hurts Purdue. Neither Braden or Fletch have been consistent either and both have become less aggressive it seems. They are also average defenders.

And yet Purdue has played by far the hardest schedule in the BT, 8-2, 3-2 vs Quad1, 2 losses on true road games, against top 5 rated Marquette, and another 1 against very underrated Penn St.! How does a team win with just average guards who can't play defense. Who on Purdue has made them a top 10 team? The above numbers are after that Penn St. egg. Stats are based off a players offense and defense! Braden alone will make Purdue one of the best college backcourts! To not put Purdue in the top 6 of the BT is _______!

I'm OK with the hire. I like that he has HC experience in the SEC, so the lights won't be too bright.
Would love to know who Bobo's first call was to? What call was Odom? Did we reach out to Campbell, Mullen, Kelly?

I believe Odom was in the $2M range at UNLV, I suspect we got him for....$5M? Hopefully he brings his staff and any players who can play in the B10.

What is NET?
The NCAA Evaluation Tool (NET) is a rankings system used by the NCAA Tournament to assist in seeding teams for the NCAA Tournament. The system is based on game results, strength of schedule, game location and net offensive and defensive efficiency.

Is the NET the only tool used to seed teams?
No. If it were then predicting a bracket ahead of time would be very easy. NCAA Committee members are given NET as one of their tools to help them seed teams. Committee members will also look at the data points that make up the NET rankings and other metrics to help seed teams.


The key really with all of it is, what has the committee always said: Play a good schedule, play games on the road, and win. That's the point of the quads. Also, take a look at last year's NET rankings from the end of the regular season. Why didn't everyone's darling, Indiana State, make the field? Because they were 1-4 in Q1 games. Yet their NET was 28, ahead of 15!!!!! teams that actually DID make the field.

The top 4 have a combined 4 losses going into the B1G title game, which kinda doesn't count. The top 4 in the SEC have 8 losses, again not counting Texas yesterday. That difference is huge.

He played great today. Doesn't mean he always will. For the next 18 months, he will have that stigma that Edey made him better than he is. I don't disagree with the statement. Can he still be an AA candidate, POY candidate, and lead this team to great heights? Yes. But he's better with Edey than without him. No question in my mind.
