Racist comments = Republicans disappear

This is my personal observation and it is not to support Pelosi, Trump, AOS, or anyone else. I think people in our country, be they independents, Democrats, Republicans, socialists or whatever, are much too quick to label others as racist.
Yup. My opinion is that public figures often utter things that demonstrate a lack of respect for and even some animus towards those of another race without necessarily harboring one of the main ingredients of racism: that all those of a certain race(s) are inferior to those of another.

Per AP
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy says President Donald Trump is not a racist. But he also says four Democratic congresswomen of color whom Trump said should return to their native countries should not have to leave the U.S.
The California Republican told reporters on Monday: “This is their country.” Three of the four congresswomen were born in the U.S., and all are Americans.
McCarthy says, “Nobody believes somebody should leave the country. They have a right to give their opinion.”

So the left can call the right Nazi's, racists, homophobes, claim they have a "war on women", claim they "don't care about the poor", and etc but that's ok because its coming from the left. And it seems perfectly ok for the left to use phrases like, "Old white men". The POTUS tells the most inflammatory loud mouths freshmen house members this country has seen in a while to leave the country if they hate it here so much and you whackos have a complete meltdown.

Just stop the hypocrisy and moderates and conservatives will start listening.
Who is "the left'? Are you saying that because any dem calling a pub those names that makes it ok for the President to start telling elected woman of color to go home?......to a country their ancestors came from I assume.
"They called me a name so they should just GTFO?
I'm so tired of this false equivalency. So Trump can call the media the enemy of the people, claim the left hates America, wants open borders, these four women are socialists, calls immigrants criminals and rapists.....but that's ok cause it's coming from Trump? See how that works? It's a bullshit argument and shows your hypocrisy.

Why didn't Trump.....or how about you......leave the country when Obama was president if you hated it so much?

At the very least, Trump is not offended by white nationalists being happy with what he's saying. Would you be comfortable with that if it were you?

Again, the leader of Neo-Nazi publication today:

"This is the kind of WHITE NATIONALISM we elected him for"

"This is what elected Trump and this is what will always be the best way for him to gain support"

I don't care if you don't want to use the label racist, demagogue, etc. - you aren't going to find me on the same side as white nationalists time and time again.

Why would he leave when Obama wasn't a legitimate president cause he was born in Africa!

If only I could remember where that racist conspiracy theory was promoted for so long.

Wow, there's one! Of course, a vulnerable senator up for re-election, and will carry on tomorrow as normal.

Ibodel - I totally agree with your comments. I tried to make it clear that I am not defending or attacking or anything else. I am just speaking to this tendency in our society to immediately label someone as a racist.

Meh, far less of an issue than actual racism.

True - but in some cases I feel it is solely to create divisions. An important issue for the 2020 election as a divided party can not win. I think Trump does this sort of thing to create divisions, to distract and/or appeal to his base and that being sucked into it is a big mistake. Hopefully it will backfire and hurt, not help, him.

Now he is in this headline grabbing exchange with AOS, et al and they are calling for his impeachment. I agree with Pelosi that to try to impeach Trump is a huge mistake. It will never pass the Senate and can lead to big problems for the Democrats.

The best is he said Trump should stop getting personal in his attacks....while he himself called them communists and they hated their country. Ok Lindsey, ok.

I fail to find why his tweets are racist or sexist.
Trump has a political view extremely different than those he called out.
You may not agree with how he expressed his disagreement but it is a stretch to call his tweets racist or sexist.

To summarize what JS is saying: racists don’t have issues with what other racists say.

You could have been way more succinct there, js.

It's like everybody in this admin has no self awareness. They do the very same things they accuse the other side of doing.......over and over.
My favorite is when Trump or one of his lackeys demand apologies from people who say mean things about him. Remarkable.

It’s mind numbing. It’s maddening. It’s confusing. But mostly it’s just sad. Sad that folks have fallen lock step Into a cult mentality with this loser of a president.

Sad that they think calling him out for some truly horrific behavior is mutually exclusive from being supportive of him as the leader of this country (and just to clarify, folks, it’s not)

Sad that instead of even saying yeah , he shouldn’t have said that, the whataboutism comes charging out because for some reason, they just cannot allow themselves to say that this kind of behavior is not right.

But it really shows true colors. Folks like hunk, js, and the like are the same as trump, and maybe I’m alone on this island and that’s okay, but until they call out this behavior, I’m going to assume they’re just as racist as Trump is. And make no mistake, Trump is a racist old mother fukker. And the others who fall in with him on this board are no better.

I think you are giving the President too much credit in believing him to be a racist, since that presumes the existence of some core philosophy and beliefs. I don't think he has any, the racism isn't a belief it's nothing more than a vehicle to drum support and pursue his politics of division.

You suggest ( some Trump rhetoric ) is to " create divisions " . Where have we heard that phrase before......sounds familiar.....Oh, yeah !! Straight out of the US Intelligence Agencies' summary of Russian Intel agencies' strategy for their '16 Election interference !! Putin's BFF...….probably got the Playbook as a gift. Nice goin', Donald.....we're all so proud of you....

I'm far to the right? Care to go over the issues? You come to this board to rip on people because your own pathetic life doesn't satisfy you. Sad really.

There are some on here that deserve that comment in last sentence. Never thought Gr8 was one of them.

Hunk has a classic case of psychological projection. After a few more insults, he'll start telling others to go spend time with their families & talk about the greatness of his daughters.

That is pretty common around here. Not saying it applies to you.

Well he certainly knows how to change the news cycle. The Jeffrey Epstein stuff? May as well have happened ten years ago. Being accused of rape just a few weeks ago? May as well have never happened.

Trump may have changed it for awhile but that Epstein story has “legs”.

I'm pretty sure no one can actually say "go back" to where you came from (crime-infested countries) to Latina and African-American Congresswomen is NOT a racist trope, right?

But, what do Republicans have to say?

0 Republican members of Congress have yet to say 1 word about it - their colleagues. And I have yet to see any meaningful Republican do so....even though they're plenty active saying other things. The NY Times says it has reached out to several.....and has not heard back from 1 with a statement.

I look forward to Marco Rubio's "we must come together" Tweet as the sacrificial lamb.

Why can't Republicans condemn the President of the United States making a blatantly racist statement....let alone that it's a factually not true racist statement?

Are Republicans ok with it?

He didn't say go back to another country. He said go back to where you came from, and to anyone not looking to bash Trump would know just that.

Three of the four were born in the United States and the fourth is a naturalized US citizen. So feel free to white man explain exactly what he meant if the rest of us are apparently too dumb to understand it.

He didn't say go back to another country. He said go back to where you came from, and to anyone not looking to bash Trump would know just that.

He literally did say exactly that.

"So interesting to see 'Progressive' Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly ... and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run.

Why don't they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how ... it is done"

Try being honest for once.

You may be right. God knows the states those two represent aren’t filled with many folks with full sets of teeth.
That was a very bigoted statement PF...I lot of my family comes from the Commonwealth. Doctors...lawyers (I know, I know)..business owners. If you really want a look into the folks you mentioned without their teeth, read Hillbilly Elegy.

I am honest. Everything he's said about the "Four" has been accurate. Do I wish he'd tone it down a bit, sure, and he wasnt my first choice, but he's doing a great job with a lot of things, including bringing jobs back to this country.

The irony of you crying about what i just said. Lmao.

He told four Americans with brown skin to go back from where they came from. So like Detroit then?

He didnt tell Nancy Pelosi to go back to where she came from.... I wonder why.
He said what Nancy wanted to say.
And I still say it's a stretch to say it was racist.
The women in question are far, far left and very out spoken.
I don't agree with how the message was delivered but I do agree with the message.

Trump bashed four radical congresswomen.
So sorry they got their feelings hurt.

Oh look at the delusional hissy fit throwers on this forum. You never ever defend when that type of language is directed at people who voted for trump. You're perfectly fine with broadly labeling trump voters as uneducated, deplorables, nazis, racists, sexists, xenophobes, etc... YOU HAVE MADE THIS ACCEPTABLE. Look at yourselves. Are you not like trump or are you EXACTLY LIKE HIM! pathetic thread. absolutely pathetic, tropey hand wringing.
