Okay Trumpers

Let's talk about double standards.
If that had been a BLM mob, they never would have made it into the building and many beatings and deaths would have occurred.
Can you imagine the security that would have been present had the shoe been on the other foot and Trump won the election only to have Biden promote lead a mob to the Capitol Building? Think back to the clearing of truly peaceful protesters in the park that Trump wanted to stage a bible toting picture in. Federal troops, military helicopters circling menacingly overhead, beatings taking place. Contrast that to the unpreparedness and tepid response you saw yesterday allowing breaching of the capitol building.
Imagine also for a minute how different things would have played out yesterday if the Capitol had gun laws like Texas and Michigan allowing open carry of long rifles. Is there any doubt many Trump supporters storming the grounds would have been carrying high capacity weapons? How does that play out?
Scary, sickening, and sad.
Obama never personally incited a riot of any kind, so no, it was not "just as bad then." Obama made statements and sniping remarks on the floor of Congress (e.g. "You don't like it? Win some elections."). Obama made strong policy statements. Trump repeatedly and openly lies to the public and his voting base via Twitter, in-person rallies, openly undermines American Democracy without any evidence whatsoever, and yesterday personally and unequivocally incited a treasonous coup attempt. This is just another false equivalence/whataboutism and THAT is what needs to stop on both sides.

We need a return to decorum, but I refuse to pander to the idiot masses like 03 and Riveting until I see them acknowledge that what happened yesterday was NOT inevitable... it was NOT caused by "both sides". It was caused by one side, and one man, who was nominated by the fringe base of the Republican party and remains unfit for the Office of the President. When we get some Trump supporters willing to admit that nominating Trump was a mistake that set the Republican party back in the long term - if not worse, we'll see - for a short-term victory, then I'll start exercising decorum with the right wing fringe loonies. I'll never get that, so I'll just keep calling spades spades.

When you empower idiots, you get idiocy.
You self-righteous rant panders to the usual knee-jerk thumbs up crowd - but I commend your profile in courage in calling a spade a spade here on an anonymous forum. Walking tall and all that, right couch guy?

The intelligent approach, not that I expect that to be of interest to you, is to wait and see who is arrested before we start assigning all the blame. But to do that would delay your self-absorbed rants, and thus you can't wait for the facts, right?

btw, I am not a repub and I have no opinion on whether Trump set back the repub party, but I strongly believe he moved American foreign policy in a positive direction after the mess Bush and BHO left him.

I'm just glad I got you to stop playing the "name calling is immature" sadface card. I'm pretty confident in assigning the blame to the Trumpers that left Trump's rally and walked over to the capital. But you wear the tinfoil hat well, as we know, Q.
A suitable nickname for a guy who calls himself 'indoorsman' and posts a photo of a guy who looks like he spends a lot of time on a couch.

Quite different from calling you a dumb ass and so forth, but I suppose the distinction is lost on you because so much is lost on you.

I'll wait for the arrests to assign blame, despite your "confidence".

You know what I love about my handle and that picture? Stupid people always assume exactly what you did. Your calm, wait and see, nuanced schtick is tired. You apply it only to Trump, but flail about anything else.

You love that we assume you like to spend a lot of time indoors? Gee, why would anyone assume that from a handle like yours? I am glad you differentiated me from stupid people, but suprise, probably everybody assumes that about you.

What a clever joke you have devised to enjoy there on your couch, putting you firmly in that well-known group that is easy to amuse.

ps, I applied my calm, wait and see approach to Hands Up, Don't Shoot and many other cases which you, there laughing at your clever joke on your couch, would have no way to know.

It takes both sides - right and left - to get where we’ve gotten. Certainly the Tea Party is culpable. So are the Progressives and socialists. It’s undeniable. They’re opposite ends of the spectrum - the fringes.

What was the fringe of history that is responsible for Hitler? There are two sides to a story but both sides aren't always culpable equally or even marginally.

It's an easy escape to justify our mistakes. "But others were wrong too!"

The losers who ran the Weimar Republic? They weren’t so much on the fringe, but their poor decisions, including the horrible Treaty of Versailles conditions and destructive economic policies, helped set the stage for Hitler.

And how culpable would you rank them in the killing of 6 million jews?

Probably a lot of people who have no clue about anything having to do with Purdue assume that. And it couldn’t be further from the truth, which is why it’s awesome when dumbasses like you assume that’s what it means.

-Obama did a bit more than that. He made comments about political opponents being enemies. Yeah, not good. Point is rhetoric has been building for awhile.
-Obama lied about the strongest policy he had. Keep your doctor, keep your healthcare, insurance prices will go down.

I will not argue that Obama was much calmer and better personality for a leader at least domestically. But do not rewrite history. He was no saint.

I do not think yesterday was inevitable either. At the same time I do not think it all started with Trump and there is more than one guilty party at play. There was a lot of throwing gas on the fire of rioters/protestors this year. I know and am friends with several BLM leaders/members from time growing up Philadelphia and the military. If Biden lost, they had plans to go to DC as well. So yes, I think this is a two sided issue.

As for nominating the candidate from the fringes of the party I do not disagree. However, I think that is a bigger issue with the primary system and the fact that the hard core party members vote more. Personally, I would like Presidential primary be held more like the Presidential election. I think we would see a higher turnout and more mainstream candidates win.

So you agree that Obama limited it to political rhetoric about his opponents, and I agree that “enemies” is a bad term to use though I cannot recall him using it. And I’m not sure why you brought Obamacare into this discussion as though it is relevant when we are talking about inciting a riot and undermining the American political system and voting integrity.

Relative to the damage Trump has personally caused in the last four years, yes, Obama was a saint. A. Saint. And I disagreed with almost every one of his policies.

With no clue about anything having to do with Purdue, a great university from which I hold a degree.

That really is a clever joke to entertain yourself with. Awesome, cool, LOL and all that.

Riveting never drank at Harry’s just to be a contrarian a-hole. He started young.
I never drank there at all. Part-time jobs and engineering school. Yet somehow I thought I knew something about Purdue.

Orange man goo whataboutism. But Obama. But Hilary.

It was never intended to be a joke, but over the 16 years I’ve been a member here, consistently the people who call me a fat couch potato because of my handle are the most empty-headed on the board, always reduced to that lame attempt at ad hom by the utter lack of content of their actual arguments. You are a shining example. Shining bright like a diamond.

Your clever joke is even more clever than I thought. AWESOME!!!!

I didn't call you fat -- and there is nothing wrong with that if that is what people choose to do or must because of a medical condition.

(Just like there is nothing wrong with being a legal immigrant, despite what some of your loyal followers appear to believe in using and approving it as a pejorative. I bet those bigots love your jokes!! LOL!!!!)

I don’t even know what the hell you’re even talking about anymore, but I’m glad I was able to distract you from your usual inanity with my 16-year-old handle.

I brought it up largely because in your post one mentioned Trump and lying. I do not disagree. The claims made and the way the ACA was sold, which was Obama's biggest achievement, were based on lies as well. Lying is not unique to Trump in political circles to try to sell something.

Obama's comments were made out in CO and dealt with Mexican/Spanish voters and immigration. Was told the campaign ran Spanish speaking adds on topic as well but would not know that. Pretty sure he later apologized after the election.

Bless your heart. He loves the uneducated! Go back to your trailer.
I love people like you that are dumber than a rock but cry out how I'm so educated because I think I'm more educated. This is the kind of bullsh*t that has been simmering causing this mess. You don't need to bless anything of mine its meaningless coming from an asshole like you.

There is a distinct difference.

The President now is directly complicit and involved. I am unaware of anything like that in our history.
What did Trump specifically tell them to do? I must have missed it. I only hear him say to go peacefully protest.
