We just couldn't get out of our own way tonight. We should have never lost to that team. Poor shot selection at key times and absolutely nothing from Haas is going to spell disaster every time. Hope we can steal a couple on the road.

I have little doubt we will steal one or two. This team is entirely too talented and the season is far from over.

Ugh poor loss to keep us from being relevant on the national stage. Why don't they let me down one more time?

Not a good loss but Minnesota has a good record and looked better than I expected. Shouldn't react like it is the end of the world although some undoubtedly will.

I hope Painter tries out a lineup with Haas on the bench to start the game. Our offense seems to flow so much better through Biggie down there than it does through Haas.

That was tough. Gophers played extremely well and wasn't at all crazy about our shot selection. Had to like chances once went to OT but man they gave it to us.

Will be interesting how they play in Columbus and bounce back against Wisconsin at home the next two days. Crazy Big 10 results early for sure.

When we have played well our offense has flowed. Crisp passes - open shots from the perimeter. Tonight, we fell behind early and I feel like we regressed to where we just try to force the ball inside inside instead of moving the ball. We played inside out with Isaac the first couple possessions in the second half and we go some great looks from 3. After that, every time the ball went inside it stayed inside against a double or triple team. I think we got shellshocked and played scared tonight.

We will always struggle with team with athletic guards until Painter changes his recruiting approach for guards - doesn't matter if it is Louisville, Minnesota, or Little Rock Arkansas. PJ, Dakota, and Cline all struggle to contain dribble drive on defense and create their own shot or make plays on offense. We have too many highly skilled but unathletic guards - skilled enough to look great against lesser opponents but will disappear against athletic guards. We need more guards like Octeus and LewJack and fewer like Mathis, PJ, Cline, Ryne Smith, Spike, etc. - we only need one designed shooter on our roster not 3 or 4. Hopefully this is being corrected with Carsen and Nojel

Not a poor loss. Minnesota will be competitive this year in the BIG. They already have a 12-2 record before walking into Mackey.

Then why must we deal with you after every loss? Go root for a team that won't disappoint you. Obviously, you are too weak willed and thin skinned to remain a Purdue fan.
I am a 17-year old kid. I have been a Purdue fan since 2008, and I am loyal. I just say things when I am down.

Haas has been getting manhandled the last few games. He goes out there and acts less athletic than a lineman and defenders push him around like he is a one trick pony. He catches the ball down low and does his round the about shot around the rim. Minnesota slapped that crap out of the park today. They called him out. At least get mad about it. He looked happy out there. Happy to get knocked out of the park like a bad pitch. I am not 7 feet but I guarantee you I'll play like it. Haas doesn't have that attitude and neither do the rest of them. Swan plays like a man but the rest see themselves as little punks like the little dog. And that's the way they played. Like a bunch of punks with one trick. A bunch of licker one trick ponies.

Just so I understand, you can't be discouraged that Purdue lost a game at home that they were favored by 14 and never should have lost without you riding their ass? .
Never said that. But since you can't grasp simple concepts, I don't expect you to understand.

This is not the last home game...Purdue loses. Swanigan is an NBA first rounder next year...rest of the team is bad along with the coaching staff.

So u tell a person who voiced their opinion on a forum to go root for another team because you didn't like their opinion and called me too stupid to grasp simple concepts and I'm the problem? And then people wonder why theirs not intelligent conversations on here about Purdue basketball....enjoy your night pushing people around in cyberspace.

I really hope we find a way to break through this year. We aren't going to have another Swanigan any time soon.

This is spot on. A 5 star recruit is a once in a decade type of thing for CMP. Too bad he couldn't get more talent to pair with Swanigan, and by the time someone like CE matures, Swanigan will be long gone.

The rest of the team is not bad, but Swanigan is CLEARLY heads and shoulders above everyone else. The rest of the team are just good enough to keep us around the NCAA bubble next year, and keep Painter at Purdue. Sigh...

Arguably, you could place this loss on CE's shoulders. 3-14 from the field and frequently lost on defense. At one point in the first half, I counted CE giving up 12-14 points from men he was defending. If you watch, he was doing things that other guards/wings were not doing in the pick and roll situation...when Minny saw that, they went at him. He struggled mightily for the first time in awhile and it happened to be against a hit shooting team with good guard/wing play.

Haas' either hot or cold playing is what truly worries me. When he is on (second half against Nova), Purdue is nearly unstoppable. When he plays like he did today, Purdue is very average with him on the floor.

Also, the team seemed to play lots of hero ball and out of the flow of the offense. Really bad stretches coupled with good stretches. Happens to every team but you'd rather have it happen away from home. Now the team needs to go 5-3 away from home to have a shot..and that's going to be hard to do with an improving Iowa and Nebraska teams.

Glad I wasn't the only one to recognize Carsen wasn't that good tonight. Couldn't figure out why people were all over PJ when Carsen was equally bad on Mason but kept driving into trouble and forcing things on offense.

Swanigan, Haas, V. Edwards, and C. Edwards are Purdue's four most talented players. (Smotherman is probably more or as athletic as CE, but he's not as skilled as him or the other three.) When two of them don't play well, they can lose.

On D, I don't think Haas is ever going to be able to keep up with drivers (especially from teams in the B1G or any team they play in the NCAA's) so Painter and co. need to get him out of man-to-man situations.

last night was perfect for zone defense... Minnesota is not a good outside shooting team but very athletic and long... perfect to play zone against to not give you inside looks and penetration..

but nope, stick in man to man no matter the matchup or situation.. that is why I am not a fan of Painter right now. Is he an awful coach? Of course not. But he is stubborn and refuses to make certain changes that need to be made.
