Quite honestly I don't give two poops if we win the conference or not. Been there, done that.... a lot.
My expectations for this season... and next really... are win enough to get a good or great seed and then own the NCAA tourney. Everything else is gravy...

I respect your opinion, but I really want a conference championship every year. Not only is it a significant accomplishment on its own, it means you have had a terrific year and guarantees a very high seed in the dance.Quite honestly I don't give two poops if we win the conference or not. True enough. I guess I've lost some interest in a season crown because it can be impacted by not playing the top teams twice too.
Anyway... we just need to win every game and satisfy us all
Agree. I would be in favor of playing less preseason games if it meant getting rid of the schedule imbalance.
Wait, didn't you know. Purdue is tied for 5th. Your supposed to take the lowest place we'd be tied with and present it that way. It helps with the agenda.

No troll; Purdue grad (BS & MS) with 3 generations of multiple Boilers all w/ high expectations.....shouldn't we all be that way?? 4th still nothing to write home about (in my families' opinion) in that it is sure nothing to brag about in anyway.....our Purdue family sees a team that has the potential to be champions and are rooting for just that!
Painter has 4 opportunities to do well this season and parlay that into recruiting:
1. Regular season champs
2. Conference champs
3. Elite 8+
4. Continue dominance over iu (only in that it might help w/ in state recruiting).
Let's hope Painter accomplishes at least 2 if not all 4 of the above....

I like winning the Big Ten Title for regular season and I feel it is still the most meaningful goal.
If we are out of the running well then winning the BTT is a good second prize in my opinion.
Then Sweet 16 or Elite 8 or Final 4 and National Championship (the big NCAA tourney takes lot of luck and talent)
I think we are in play for all of them....

Players be damned, it's what PAINTER accomplishes. Your BS, MS and three generations have taught you a lot.

If you would have told me this purdue team would finish 4th in the big ten at the beginning of the year i would have been shocked. As it stands now, purdue is overachieving signicantly. We'll see if they can hold on to this type of play, but i think they start to faulter as the season goes on.
The bottom line is that winning the Big and flaming out in the NCAA gets us nothing: No top recruits, no real national recognition, nothing. Do any top recruits really care about winning a conference title? Look at Gene's legacy. All of those Big Ten titles and two elite 8's in 25 years. Year after year we would storm thru the conference only to play poorly after that. That's why the only goal during the season is two win enough games to get a top 5 seed and peak at the end of the season. This team can do that IMO. We need Biggie to continue to improve during the year, Vince to continue to build on his aggressive style, Dalota and the other shooters to continue improved shooting,
