No thanks.
Butch is karma for you rednecks running off Cuonzo.
Go to hell, assVol! You'll find no sympathy here!!
I never did understand why they didnt like Martin.
Vol fan here, would gladly send him to you
Vol fan here, would gladly send him to you
Remember this qoute. This could be currently what Miles and Fleck are doing to Purdue, just playing us against a better option. Please let plan B or C be a guy like Calhoun or Rhule or Brohm. all better options than just settling for a safe hire or Purdue type guy like Spacksorry, but butchie passed on us so he could fark you guys up.
mission accomplished!
I wouldnt do that to any school. We'll pass on Butch. But Hazell is available for Tennessee.
I used to live in Knoxville and am pretty up to date with UT athletics. UT did not run off Martin like most Boiler fans think. The administration wanted to keep him and were pretty surprised when he left. Martin was never beloved by Tennessee fans because a) the program took a noticeable dip under Martin compared to his predecessor Bruce Pearl and b) Pearl has a very outgoing personality and was very vocal about his love for Knoxville and UT, while Martin has a much more reserved personality and never seemed to be an outspoken, passionate advocate for UT compared to Pearl. No thanks.

No. Four million buyoutAny chance Tennessee lets him go?

Martin does have one thing in common with Strong.Martin was our basketball version of Charley Strong and Texas football. Never liked the fans and lost with very good talent.
That is an ignorant @$$ postMartin does have one thing in common with Strong.
We don't want Jones because he played our AD like a cheap fiddle last go round, not because his record at UT is not good enough for us. Of course we would gladly take a coach with an 8-4 record, just not one who has screwed us in the past.Lol at Purdue fans acting like they wouldn't want Butch. You guys would build a statue for him if he had the same success at Purdue that he has had at UT already.
You're a smart poster, you know exactly what I'm talking about - you are implying they got let go because they are both black. I don't believe that is a factor in either case. Strong had the best job in the country and could barely make a bowl game. Martin didn't get fired and left on his own, but was never beloved by the fans not because of his race but because of his team's performance and his personality. If you followed either program a little bit, you would know that.Care to elaborate?
Wow. That's a lot of inference. You're a smart poster, you know exactly what I'm talking about - you are implying they got let go because they are both black. I don't believe that is a factor in either case. Strong had the best job in the country and could barely make a bowl game. Martin didn't get fired and left on his own, but was never beloved by the fans not because of his face but because of his team's performance and his personality. If you followed either program a little bit, you would know that.
Its kind of like saying Purdue fans wanted Hazell gone because of his race not his performance.
Hey, mama didn't raise a fool. When you said they both had one thing in common, you were not talking about them being midwesterners. That is laughable.Wow. That's a lot of inference.
My point is midwestern coaches not succeeding in the south.
Now do I think an African American coach in TN might not ever get the benefit of the doubt? Interesting question. How many African American coaches has TN had in major sports? There's probably not enough to make any kind of valid determination. But the lack of a statistic sample probably raises other questions.
For the record, Strong absolutely should've been fired. I'm not convinced Martin got a fair shake.
I will just leave it at this..I think Martin is in a much better place at Cal.Hey, mama didn't raise a fool. When you said they both had one thing in common, you were not talking about them being midwesterners. That is laughable.
Also, Charlie Strong was born and raised in Arkansas and spent most of his career in the SEC.
Agreed, much better fit for him and I'm happy he's doing well out there.I will just leave it at this..I think Martin is in a much better place at Cal.
Would have to be at the end of 2017Any chance Tennessee lets him go?
also they are both bald.Hey, mama didn't raise a fool. When you said they both had one thing in common, you were not talking about them being midwesterners. That is laughable.
