In years 12, 13. and 14 he was 16-9, 16-10, and 18-8. He won 3 league championships and went to 3 NCAA tournaments during in 14 years.

And when he went there UCLA had never won a Pac basketball championship and they played in a high school gym. So very low expectations.

No comparison. Originally 8 teams then 16 teams made the NCAA back in the 1950's then to 24 in the 60's . I believe the PAC was 8 teams back then as the Arizona teams were added 35 years ago and the last 2 schools a few years back. Impossible to compare. Under those rules Painter would have made one NCAA.
