I'll take it but name one former big ten championship team that this Purdue team could beat.
All of them. This team has the potential to beat any team just as they can lose to any team. That is why we have the ranking we have.I'll take it but name one former big ten championship team that this Purdue team could beat.
Painter apparently.Who peed in your Cheerios?
Very true...the media programming. The Big is tough every year.I think that the question needs to be asked: is the perception of a weak B1G simply due to the fact that IU is bad and NW fairly decent?
The media has its darlings snd the media shapes perception. One only has to listen to DickieV and ESPN to know that conference strength is heavily correlated with media favorite strength. Take the Big12, Kansas has won or tied for first the last 13 years. That tells me a conference oversll is weak, yet the conference is perceived as strong because a media fav is strong. NW, a historically weak team, is doing well so the B1G mudt be bad.ACc teams can accumulate losses yet not drop in polling because the other ACC teams are strong according to perception. On the other hand, a road loss in the Big Ten is a catastrophe and cites weakness.
Branding can often allow the maintenance of a strong market position before poor product quality catches up over time. Think US autos in the 1970s and 80s.
Possibly. But it also has to due with the Big Ten's losing record against P5 conference teams this year. Our teams had a lot of opportunities against good OOC teams and lost the majority of them.I think that the question needs to be asked: is the perception of a weak B1G simply due to the fact that IU is bad and NW fairly decent?

This has to be one of the most moronic posts on these quite a while - and that's saying something. You are no Purdue fan.I'll take it but name one former big ten championship team that this Purdue team could beat.

SHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUP TROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLI'll take it but name one former big ten championship team that this Purdue team could beat.
For league play, who cares, we are the B1G champions, that's all that matters. I'm happy to have another B1G championship and to regain the lead in that category as IU tied us last year.
Now for the NCAAT, it matters. Jerry Palm right now is projecting that Purdue will be a 4, Minny a 5 and Wisky and Maryland a 6. When is the last time the B1G's best seed finished as a 4? Last year we had a 2, 2 years ago a 1, 3 years ago two 2's, 4 years ago we had a 1,2,3,4 (4th best team was a 4!), and all I see are 1's and 2's for the B1G's best in the past. I'm sure it's happened before, where the top seed was in the 4 range, but I think it's been a while.
I'll take it but name one former big ten championship team that this Purdue team could beat.
From last week's post:
2003 (Wisconsin (21) champ, Illinois (11)) - Illinois was a 4-seed, Wisconsin a 5-seed.
2002 (Illinois (13) tri-champ) - 4-seed.
The conference still ended up with a team in the FF in 2002, and Regional Finalist in 2003.
1. STFUI'll take it but name one former big ten championship team that this Purdue team could beat.
It's not how you start, but how you finish. We lost to Nova and Louisville early and IU beat Kansas and NC early. That was in November/December. Which is the better team now? I think this Purdue team is much improved from what it was then. Vince, Dakota, Cline, Carsen, Biggie, PJ, and Spike have all gotten better and this team has jelled since then. Of course other teams have gotten better too. Have we improved more? I think so. We'll know in the next few weeks.Possibly. But it also has to due with the Big Ten's losing record against P5 conference teams this year. Our teams had a lot of opportunities against good OOC teams and lost the majority of them.
Back to the OP question (as if it were legit).. IU 2016.

I don't know man. Wilbur "Stilts" Maghee was a 6'2" 140 lb center who shot over 10% from outside the paint, unheard of accuracy from deep back in the days of the set shot. He averaged 4 pts and 8 boards per game and set the big record with 24 double singles that season. No way our bigs could defend that kind of production.I'd say they would give the 1917 Illinois co-champs a run for the money.
I know someone who won 1 million dollars in the lottery. They were pissed they were one number off from 8 million. Grumps. I go to sleep counting my blessings and I'm still cheering this morning. Go Boilers!I'll take it but name one former big ten championship team that this Purdue team could beat.
I was gonna say this years team could beat one of the other Purdue Big 10 champ teams but then I realized how weird that would sound to say that we could beat ourselves.I'll take it but name one former big ten championship team that this Purdue team could beat.
Worst Big Ten Championship post ever?
Fify, so yes.
1927 Minnesota sucked. We would've destroyed them. You can add any of the pre-1940 teams. Those dudes were fairly short. Haas and Swanigan would feast.
You will notice that Boilerfan33 has not followed up his OP. If he had really wanted to discuss this topic, you would see additional posts from him. He just dropped his turd and ran, which is very typical of an internet troll. This thread should probably be deleted, and 33 banned from this board.
