Kenny Wooten was the big man that decomitted from ASU. Was a very nice prospect. I would have liked to see Painter go after him, but what does this mean for McCoy now? Does UNLV become the new favorite? Does Purdue now have a chance to move into his top five? Ondigo will be making a decision soon. If Ondigo goes to Texas Tech, it would leave Sodom and McCoy (and honestly I am not even sure if we have any chance to McCoy, but why can't we dream for a McDonald's all American to replace Biggie?)

McCoy had Arizona State as a finalist?

So now we're down to Ondigo, Sodom, Tillmon, and McCoy, with none of them necessarily leaning towards Purdue?

No, he had Oregon as a finalist. Ondigo went with texas tech. I know Purdue was interested in Tillmon early, but I am not sure he was ever offered. I don't think we go for Sodom. He is a project. Painter would be better going for Tillmon or McCoy. Better off saving the scholarship for the 2018 class. There are a lot of intriguing options that would serve Purdue better than reaching for a big man. Maybe there is a graduate transfer Painter has in mind, but minutes will be sparce. A transfer could also be an option because a lot of minutes free up in 2018 and holding a player out 2017 doesn't harm us.

Not sure what a player would find appealing about playing basketball at UNLV. I'm sure getting to the NBA is on their mind but look at how Anthony Bennett turned out. Not even in the league 4 years after he was drafted. So I am wondering what these players are thinking about.

I have to disagree with you there. As I've mentioned before, I believe next season is Purdue's best chance for a deep run in The Tournament, moreso than two seasons from now. So, I believe it's important to add a 4 or 5 man that truly is a defensive presence (good fundamental D plus a shot-blocker/rim-protector/whatever you want to call it), assuming that Caleb Swanigan is not returning.

After reading this, and reading the post you are commenting to, I am not exactly sure what you are disagreeing with. Sodom isn't an elite rim protector/defender and he is the best option. I would like Tillmon or McCoy but I don't think we get either one. In that case, I would rather hold onto the scholarship. None of the available players Purdue has a chance with are going to be elite athletic defenders. At that point, saving the scholarship is better than offering a project when there is so many players Purdue would be better off with in the 2018 class. There might be a transfer available that would be worth the wait, but they would need to be a high potential guy. I really like 6 players so far in the 2018 class and I am sure Painter will find some late emerging talent as well if he misses on the core guys he is after. I do agree this class needs that elite defender, but I don't think we get one this late in the game.

I'm disagreeing with what you just laid out. I don't think they should wait until 2018 to add a big. Assuming Swanigan leaves, I think they need to add one very soon. I'm not ruling out anyone still uncommitted in 2017 and I don't necessarily agree with your assumption that anyone Purdue would get this year could not be an immediate defensive presence or force. These are the things of which I am disagreeing with you.
