WKU hires DC

Not surprising with their new head coach, what is surprising is that Holt hasn't been announced as the DC for Purdue yet. I think he would a great get for us. Looks like he will be jobless for very short period of time...

Could have been waiting to be let go to avoid a buyout clause once he didn't get the head job...just guessing as I have no inside information!

Buyout clause on an assistants contract? Havent seen many of those. Especially at a non P5 school

This is speculation based on some articles and interviews. Brohm stated that in today's market, many assistant coaches have multi-year contracts. Could it be he was speaking from personal knowledge and he knew Holt had a multi-year contract and rather than naming Holt as Purdue's new DC and having Purdue pay the buy out clause, he was willing to wait for WKU to name a new DC and have WKU pay out any existing buy out clauses on holt and other WKU assistants?

I doubt there is a buyout in any assistant's contract. Doesnt make sense for either side.

LSU and Texas A&M recently had a rift regarding a DC switching schools...those clauses are becoming more common than most people realize since it takes guaranteed contracts for coaches to move nowadays but I do not know if he had one or not!

Dave Aranda is the highest paid assistant coach. He doesnt have one.

Not true regarding the highest paid...he is only #4 on the Top Ten list for this past year...the man he replaced is #1 making a cool $1,350,000 at Texas A&M and two of the top ten were fired before the year ended! Wonder how you know what his contract contains?

And the new salaries for 2017 will not be posted until after 12/31/16 as per law so the increases they probably all have in their contracts will shuffle the order again once they are known except for the two that were fired and what their payouts were! What about knowing what the contracts contain? The article you linked says $1.2 million with a payout due LSU if he goes to another school as anything other than a Head Coach also making my points both true! It also indicated he had to pay Wiscy to leave and the LSU donors foot that bill!

It did. You got me there.

Did you notice the amount to Wisky? Purdue isnt going to balk at that.
