Wisconsin at Purdue

who is left on the schedule that we can beat playing like this?
Nebraska?
Northwestern?
Michigan State?
Indiana?
I’m not even putting O$U down

Well....that was a disappointment I don't mind saying so. Wisconsin executed what they needed, and Purdue's offense struggled mightily. Boilers can still have a good year, but they obviously have to be better with their possessions. I thought they might have a chance against Michigan State before today's game.....we shall see.

And next week in Lincoln will be another challenge.....don't really know what to expect right now.

4-3 now
5-3 next week
5-4 after MSU
5-5 after Columbus
6-5 after Northwestern
7-5 after Indiana
If we could just have taken care of the dang football today…we win that darn game!!!!

I’m mystified maybe because I predicted 5-7..

did any of you go into the season feeling entitled to a win over Wisconsin? I didn’t lol
no but watched them 3X's earlier and wasn;t impressed, we had a good shot today w/ momentum on our back.

It’s puzzling that after last week people didn’t think we could.. lose .. to a 3 point favorite? Lol
Any true Purdue fan should have fully expected us to lay an egg after a big win like last week. It could have been worse, we could have done it in front of a packed house…oh, wait.
I think we have some decent talent on this roster, but it’s hard to see anything getting better on the offensive side of the ball without a major change at QB next year - Alaimo, Allen, transfer?

hopefully Alaimo sticks, I see Plummer in the portal.

Dude I expected 5 wins this year. If we lose out til we get to northwestern THEN we lose to northwestern.. I’ll be as pissed as all the people who thought we were Georgia once we beat Iowa lol

I’d be surprised if Burton stayed. I can’t imagine he transferred across the country to be in a “close competition” with a D3 walk-on each year only to cement his place as the situational QB sneak specialist.
I'm not really sure our QB coach knows what a good QB is. Picked Plummer this year. That failed. Then picked O'Connell. That hasn't been much other than Iowa. Won't let Burton throw a pass. And Alaimo, who knows...

todays game showed last week was a fluke
My god he was playing a top ten defense.. Jesus

if he sucks against Nebraska have at it .. better yet call brohm and ask why he’s the best we have. Kyle Orton and Curtis painter aren’t on the roster. Austin burton and jack plummer aren’t Curtis Painter

Sorry - he looked bad today.
3 INTs and he threw into triple coverage multiple times - as well as several sacks that should have throw aways- coulda been worse.
We shall see how he responds da next week.

You're right.. O'Connell is definitely our best option out there. Is he an all American...no. but he's Purdue's best QB. When he has a clean pocket he's outstanding. Nothing close to a clean pocket today and no run support

He threw 2 INTs today that had nothing to do with having a clean pocket. He had a terrible game...

Crazy that AOC didn't deliver it either.
No not crazy … Wisconsin Is a top ten defense in the nation our offensive line is bottom 20. Leon hard is also a master at disguising coverages. Nebraska’s defense is much improved and they are several notches below.

you saying what you’re saying is beyond stupid because you don’t know what you think you know.

if a pretty solid big ten defense didn’t deliver against the drew Brees boilermaker offense, it would have Been because that offense was damn good. It would not have been crazy that that defense didn’t deliver.

if Oconnell folds against Nebraska have at it. I promise you Wisconsin is not Nebraska

And what you’re dealing with is people who think you need to be Kyle Orton to be “good.”

Aidan is a good solid QB and everyone crying needs to thank god he was here.. because I don’t know what late 2019/early 2020 looks like without him

Absolutely right. The offensive line failed to protect him because the offensive line isn't good enough against a Wisky defense. Put Brees out there and he's going to be rushed.

LMAO...you continue calling him a good, solid QB when the numbers say something completely different...

Personally, if I were Brohm, I'd take my lumps this year trying to develop Alaimo so he has some experience for next year. Because O'Connell isn't gonna be the answer moving forward...

What you’re probably dealing with is purdue looking bad against Wisconsin and a lot of casual fans who only see the QB. If they were rushing 3 as many have said, that’s on this piss poor OL and whatever dale Williams has been doing the last few years

Plus the play calling wasn't the best either. A QB can only do what he's allowed time to do and to run the plays given

He was throwing into double and triple coverage. Lucky he didn't have more interceptions. Time to let the young one in to develop.

Agreed. Most of the issue today was O'Connell. He doesn't know when to throw it away and he forced it way too much...

Alaimo sure got that ball out quick against UConn lol

we were ranked going into a game against a team that will finish ranked and you wanna play alaimo.

and the numbers apparently say whatever you want them to say. Throw for 372 and it’s not good enough unless you’re Charlie ward in the red zone lol. So dumb

Yeah Wisconsin has really good coverage .. ranked 7th in the nation. the next best school not named Purdue is Michigan at 21. If you could do a Google search you might .. I don’t know, know who the **** we’re playing?

7th ranked defense vs the worst offensive line in the big ten and I got news for you casual fan.. a lot of good QBs might struggle

Sorry - I was there
He had guys open if he got thru his reads.
Yes the OL sucks
But he looked very shaken today

Some people were saying 3. Lambast them.

please do me a favor dude.. rank the Purdue qBs in terms of ability right now
Therein lies the problem. NONE are very good. Plummer - no. O'Connell - no. Burton - who the hell knows when I haven't seen him pass the ball. Alaimo - who the hell knows.

See any pattern here? Maybe we don't have a good QB coach who can develop players? Or we're recruiting the wrong QBs?

Did any defenses that weren’t that bad ever get touched up by drew Brees? Michigan state in 1999 for example?
