Wisconsin at Purdue: MASTER DISCUSSION THREAD

Tenn lost, Iowa st lost. Arizona lost. Obviously they were looking ahead. Purdue won! Uw is a tough team, and the game was close. But Purdue refused to lose. That’s what champions do.

Would it be possible for UNC to slide into the fourth 1-seed if they play well in the ACC tournament? I think all three teams ahead of them lost this weekend, and they beat a good Duke team.

Nice, tough, gritty win by our Boilers today. Especially in just playing for pride and a perfect home court record, and was probably much more important of a game for Wisky. I will say that it was a real punk ass move by Storrs to steal the ball from Martin as we were clearly running out the clock. I hope they remember that. Pretty good speeches as well, especially Mom Edey. Yes, the kid got an autograph from a nobody indeed.

I don't think it has something to do with looking ahead. They just didn't shoot/perform as well as the opponent. This year should be different for Purdue!

I would have UNC as the 4th #1 as of today.
You could be right. But I think we as fans in general give too much emphasis on one game this late in the year. I think Tennessee would still be a 1 seed as of today. That could change of course, games to be played yet. But 1 game doesn't move the needle that much when there are such large bodies of work in play.

Not that it's definitive, but Lunardi has TN as the 4th 1 seed and UNC as the 1st 2nd seed (#5) as of today. So obviously, it is very close!

I said you can argue he had the best game vs Edey , not his best game

He capped off arguably the best play of the day.....the four-point Boom Baby!

Metrics slightly favor Tennessee. I think sweeping Duke will carry. Of course they could play again. Very close indeed. Will be interesting where the #2 seed of those 2 goes in the bracket, MW, E, or South. Arizona will go west no matter what. The best 2 will have basically have its choice of region and I'm not positive which one would be best in either case. Obviously Marquette can't go with Creighton though.

Of all the teams in play for a #2 seed, TN worries me the most. I don't want to meet them until the FF. Not that the other teams couldn't be tough, I just think TN is the scariest of the bunch. I can just see Knecht going off and Ziegler hitting too. KY as a #3 or #4 in our region isn't very appealing either!

Edey cleaning up the easily predictable Morton brick. I really don’t hate Morton but I’d love for him to get some points on his senior night
Don’t ever hate, appreciate, been on helluve season! Ethan isn’t a shooter, he does a lot of other things though.

Yes, 11 pts so far H2 Few to no run outs
Don’t know the Wisconsin stats for the game, but their 3 ball shooting was bad and shot well inside the arc . Need Zach to get on his toes or small jump to contest those shots in the lane. He blocked one like that, but there were plenty of opportunities without fouling. He only needs a foot max and he can get that just getting more on his toes. 😊

Let’s hope KY isn’t a 4, playing them in a sweet 16 wouldn’t be ideal, if they’re a 3 at least it would be elite 8. I don’t want UNC or KY in Purdue’s region.

11 points and five turnovers this half - Wisconsin defense is part of that, but the Boilers are not playing well.....some breakdowns in the paint on defense, and Wisconsin has had a couple of bounces go their way too.

Need to pick it up and finish with a burst.
Not a total surprise. Sometimes it seems senior day has a lot of distractions. I’m sure Matt is aware of the possibility

The fouls on us vs Wisconsin are just totally different.
While at the game I got this text from an ex football player. Total of 5 brothers played football for Purdue. “Will you please go down and talk to these refs!!!! They are killing our guys”. He saw it all the way from Portland

A few posters should be ashamed of themselves with the garbage they posted lately, the team has had an amazing year, I swear I honestly think a few want them to
Lose because they’re miserable. Appreciate what you watched this season, doesn’t happen too often. Today’s game was a pretty easy win, Wisky played a good game, they took it to Purdue, I swear, some must expect 20-25 point blowouts like the other teams are going to not show up.

Thanks for only showing up when things aren't going that well. Super valuable opinion.
It is odd. Kim was worried and I never was. Whatever it was I never felt the game was in question and sometimes I do. I just didn’t think Purdue was totally focused and yet wasn’t concerned when it got down to two possessions. Oddly it appears to me that Purdue sagged a bit more than usual some times, but they must have covered out of it since Wisconsin was not very good be hind the arc but very good inside and so those things don’t match up with sag overall and maybe that was more of who Wisconsin had in the game at the time

They have in the past maybe once or twice . Not very often

I don't recall many seasons where the bulk of the final games were played on Sunday....BTN had Ohio State/Rutgers then Penn State/Maryland in its afternoon games following Nebraska/Michigan.
