Will we see the return of Kendall Stephens today?

I don't understand his situation.. I know he lost a close friend. But most guys take 1-2 games off for berievement - not 4 weeks! Played very little vs MSu and none today (or I missed it if he did). At this point, he's a non factor and I don't see him contributing worth a darn the rest of the year.

I thought I read somewhere (probably here) that RJ indicated he planned to transfer after his last season at Purdue, DURING that season. But he still played and played a lot and played a lot badly. CMP took heat for that afterwards.

So what is going on with Stephens?

Probably nothing more than a player who missed a couple weeks of practice trying to get back into game shape and the flow of the team. In the minutes he played against MSU he didn't look quite ready for game action (although I still don't know how that 3 he took rolled out).

As much as these guys get bashed on here, it's easy to forget the extreme level of fitness they are operating at. It's impossible to keep outside of the team structure. It would be nice to see the team get a lead tonight so he can get some action but it shouldn't be shocking to not see him a lot for a few more games.

Good points. For comparison, look at how all-american candidate (and probably first team all-B1G if not injured) Caris Levert performed in his first game back limited minutes against us in AA last Saturday. Sure, CL's injury absence is different than KS's reasons for sitting out games, but first games back, regardless of reason for the prolonged absence, do not always go smoothly.
