Where does Keion Brooks end up?

I think the analogy would be more along the lines of Izzo retires, Painter takes over at MSU, and the recruiting slips a bit, because MSU isn't on the elite level of UNC, UK, Kansas, etc.

Yes. Kansas is a very bad example to include Painter because their state has no admission requirements. Their state bylaws used to read that no person seeking a college education would ever be denied the opportunity to attend a state funded college. Thus Kansas could lower their academic standards for athletes - especially one and dones.

but as new pal pointed out, if Izzo retired, and Painter took over, MSU's recruiting would dip, not very much, but to the level of other similar BIG 10 schools. unlike some schools, like UNC, Izzo is the attraction/factor. and he's a lot more than 50%. he's basically the only reason elite recruits go to MSU.

Recruiting rankings are a static number that a bunch of people put young B.B. Players. Teams are dynamic in their makeup. Point being is you brought up the 07 class, I would contend that the current group of upperclassmen this year can be every bit as successfully. The part that counts.

The current Senior class (Dakota, Vince, Isaac, PJ) is a special class, no doubt about it.

But the JJ, E'twaun, Hummel and Martin class was one of the best classes Purdue has ever had. That class was unbelievable, and was the primary reason why Purdue was a top 10/5 team in the country.

Obviously the coach is a massive factor. For instance, when Clappy was at IU, Romeo Langford had ZERO interest in being a Hoosier. Now that Clappy's gone, Archie has a very legit chance at landing him.

There are many factors, but none of them are bigger than the head coach.

Don't count IU out just cause we're the rival school. He was really excited when Archie was hired, had a great unofficial visit, and his dad has a great relationship with Schilling.

If Matt Painter was to take the Kansas job yes sir they would slip they would not be a Powerhouse no more
That's just nuts. A programs history, money, facilities and fan support play a huge part in its capacity to win. Matt may not be an elite coach, but he's good enough to keep KU rolling.

Far from discounting, I'm just assuming it will happen. Then I'll be twice as happy when it doesnt.

Anyone hear about Bossi saying IU is now in good shape with Garland? Can't get confirmation on that, but that popped today. Though that ship had sailed for Vandy or Duke, but now he's apparently headed to their Midnight event and Langford is supposed to be there the same night. Hear they are buds.

Damn, I'm sure glad all these IU f*cks are here to help straighten us out. Back to the comics with ye...........you bunch of jugheads

Kansas would just be average if Matt Painter was the coach there he would have winning seasons but being a Powerhouse like they are now would not happen. Kansas fans wouldn't have him there if he didn't get to a final four in his first 14 seasons they would let him go after four seasons with no Final Four

The coach matters just as much as the school if not more. Matt Painter has done a decent job for Purdue but the things he's done here would not be good enough for a lot of schools. Prime example Ohio State Thad matta's won Big Ten championships and been to the final four a couple times and just cuz he had some bad Seasons would they do they fired him.

Matt Painter would keep Kansas going with winning seasons but that would not be good enough for their fans. Schools like that unlike Purdue on the basketball court they demand greatness. I know, IU troll for saying this but that's the truth.

Arizona, Kansas haven't reach a final since 2005 look it up. Been a top 1 seed almost every year and still hasn't reach a final 4. Has won the PAC 12 13 seasons but hasn't reach a final 4 n years. Win 25/30 games per season no final 4 and neither has Arizona with 5 star players year in and year out what does that say about bill self and miller. You get a lot of flack on this board a lot but I do respect your opinions and I do agree on one thing I feel you have always been consistent about purdue reaching a final 4 and that is what you expect. I feel this is the year they have a chance to get that far. Painter does things by the book why my son and I chose purdue many coaches don't do things by the book. I been around this basketball circle since my son was an 8th grader when he started being recruited and all I can tell u a lot of crooked stuff goes on with some of these coaches but Matt painter has stayed true to what he believes in and recruit accordingly that is why my son is at purdue. Keep speaking your mind because those are your opinions. Have a good night

Is your son on the team? Sorry - newer member here

Yes Nojel eastern and this 2017 will be really good they got 2 months to get ready for the season not world games that time will be spent getting ready for season. 11 games under there belt will pay dividends for sure
Ms. Reed -
Please know that Boilerman1973 is a not-very-bright IU fan (I know, that doesn't narrow it down much) pretending to be a Purdue fan.

If you and your son seen a lot of crooked things with coaches you should have reported that. And by the way I think your son's going to be good glad to have him. But we need more parents that goes through what you guys went through to turn these coaches in.

Brooks is going to Indiana and I hate saying that. I don't know how Archie Miller is doing it I would say he's a stand-up guy and not cheating I don't think he is so whatever he's doing we need to do to. You can call me and IU troll but you can't deny what we're seeing at Indiana right now and it don't look good for Purdue

I have no idea what the specifics are in this case, but typically it's not that simple. Coaches are going to maintain plausible deniability.

And Langford will be signing with IU I guarantee it[/

So, how many forwards will IU recruit? Between this year and last, I think they might have 15 or 20 on ships, right?

I can see it now. 5 guys running to the paint, then looking back to see a ball sitting at the other end of the court, waiting for someone to inbound the poor thing.

Lol...So you really believe he is such an IU lean that Izzo visited Darrion 2 weeks ago? He makes a couple unofficial visits to IU and now he is a IU lock? He has been up to MSU at least 10 times and even football games. His first visit is when he was an 8th grader. MSU still leads and its not even close. IU would need more than a couple of visits.

Who is Darrion?

May end up to be the best Brooks out of all of them. Izzo would not waste his time if he didn't feel confident in Jr. They lead believe me. Could IU come in strong sure....but far behind!

Currently IU is pretty full of guards (Johnson, Green, Newkirk, Jones, and Durham) with Johnson and Newkirk, and bigs Hartman, McSwain, and Priller as seniors and Phinisee, JHunter, Langford ;) and maybe Garland or another guard coming in. Only one true big coming of the four current signees.

Going into '19 the most likely roster openings will be bigs Morgan and Davis, and Langford.

In other words, IU will have more guards than forwards by '19, and should be taking at least two 6'7"+ players for '19. Most likely candidates Trayce Jackson Davis (who may pop for IU pretty soon) Brooks, Watford, Hurt, and Igeihon. Seems like the first two in get the spots, and I'd be more than a little surprised if Trayce wasn't one of them.

I will totally agree with your sentiments and comments. I've always believed Painter ran a very clean and honest program, while many others have lied through their teeth, or their actions were not totally ethical or in the athlete's best interest. I have to believe both Izzo, and Coach k also run clean programs. I believe Izzo is clean primarily because he recruits the same players Painter does.

I know Painter has a respectful program and he has certain standards for his team and his players. And to be recruited by Painter, you have to have already set a high standard both on and off the court.
