I recently finished The Count of Monte Cristo and with incredibly low expectations, watched the movie - and was still really, really (really really) disappointed.
Sparked the question - which movies are better than (or even on par with) the book that inspired them? My wife threw out Harry Potter as one that is good in both formats, though I’ve never seen/read either (maybe someday).
Any come to mind?
