They beat up on Loyola(Md) 79-75.
Last night, they destroyed the St. Peters Fighting Peacocks 75-66.

So, they're 2-0 like the Boilers, but I feel much better about the Boilers 2-0.
I haven't looked to see if they have had any injuries.

I'm not putting any stock into what Purdue has done so far compared to others. There is a very large range of good and bad basketball amongst the non-name schools. It's very possibly that we would have had similar results against Loyola and St. Peters.

If we are still undefeated in 3 weeks, then we'll talk.

I think they are ranked because they return everyone from a NCAA team that was a great story. The problem is the guys they return don't have a high ceiling for improvement and they did not add any impact players or add depth.

I'm hoping experience will get them some good non-conference wins for the B1G strength of schedule, but this could also be a middle of the pack bubble team again like last year.

It's not like Northwestern destroyed a bunch of teams last year, either. Like their football program, they just grind out wins.

The comments above are spot on. They are the media darling feel good story and that is a big reason for them being rated where they are. They will struggle this year playing at the Allstate Arena. It is difficult for their students and north shore fans to get there on week nights. If you think that Penn State is Mausoleum, go to a game in Rosemont at the Allstate Arena.
