What is Bobinski doing right now?

I would hope he sits down for lunch/dinner with JB, one on one, just the two of them and gets the straightest answer he can, man to man, not boss to subordinate.
The question would be simple: "Jeff, I get how this business works, and I'm just going to ask this one time, there's no judgement, 'Are there any offers you can't refuse?' Does the board and I need to at least start having some discussions in the event that offer comes up? Would you like to talk about an extension?"

Do you really want an extension this early? If he goes to UT, there will be someone to take his place. You do trust Bobo don't you?

Not a matter of trust. There's inherent risk in bringing in any new coach no matter how good the person hiring him is. I think Purdue should seek first to do all that is reasonable within its power to accommodate and keep Brohm. Not a blank check but if it's reasonable for both parties then working with him is preferable to starting all over.

Didn't Minny just extend their brand new coach? Probably for the same reason.
I would obviously expect PU to match any offers that comes JB's way. He's shown what an exciting coach and excitement around the program can do from an asses in the seats standpoint. That and the revenue generated alone should be enough to warrant matching offers.

This. I’d rather pay a proven commodity $5 million than pay an unproven commodity $3 million.

Talking to Brohm and/or his agent about an extension?

Sending out feelers to new coaching candidates?

Forwarding crazy Vols fan tweets to CJB?
I am sure Jeff Brohm is out recruiting for the Boilers. He will sit down with Bobinski at some point. They will likely amend the contract and add some years, maybe some bonuses, and discuss staff stipends which is normal.

The Tennessee job has become poison in my opinion. They will now have a hard time hiring a big name and will go with Tee Martin to appease everyone with someone who wants to be there.

Yep. And this isn't even a tough call. The odds of Purdue wanting to get out from under his contract in the next few years are very low. Key factors - winning, recruiting, revenue - all pointing up. Extend him and increase the buyout.
