With less than two weeks away before the first exhibition game, I thought I'd throw out my starting lineup prediction with some thoughts compared to last years main lineup.

1. A. Reynolds
2. Spider Jones
3. Swanson
4. Bass
5. McCarthy

Overall, I believe this lineup is more athletic and talented than last years starting lineup. Although we lack the experience, I think we may be a better team because of the upgrade in athleticism.

I'm excited to see what Amiyah can bring to the table. No doubt we'll miss Terry's rebounding, but I think Amiyah will bring more of a scoring punch to the PG spot. I also like her length, as long as the quickness is there, she could be a hell of a defender.

I'm expecting a noticeable jump in development from Jones and Swanson.
Bass should be a steady presence for us with all the experience she brings.

Mccarthy has good height and reports are she moves well for her size. I'd guess she would be a upgrade defensively from C.Harper based on those two points above. Hopefully she can communicate call outs as well as Caitlyn did.

Tough schedule, but I'm looking forward to seeing the team play.

Reading the little pre-season tea leaves we've been getting from the overseas trip and practices I'd be shocked if Lombard isn't starting - at least initially. Could also see Harper getting the start simply because she's the most experienced post but quickly getting replaced by McCarthy or Puryear. But I also have Jones/Swanson/Bass in the starting lineup.

I agree that Swanson, Bass, and Jones are probable starters. I could see either Lombard or A. Reynolds at the point, but I think McCarthy needs to start at center. The others are a smallish lineup and we need a space eater in the paint or we will get killed on rebounds and second chance points. I can see Puryear moving ahead of Bass come Big Ten play as Bass seems slightly built to play PF in the Big Ten. We might be a little more athletic, but I don't think we have the basketball IQ and I am not sure we will have players with the heart and motor that Terry and Ellis had last season. The loss of Mary Ashley REALLY hurts this teams chances this season and I would be shocked if they end up with a better record that last season given we are a bunch of underclassmen and mediocre transfers from midmajors and below.

I agree with your lineup except I think Alaina Harper will be the starter at the 5. I think Bass will be the leading scorer and rebounder on the season. Followed by Swanson as the second leading scorer. I'm most excited to Amiyah Reynolds play....I've been hearing about her for two years now. I'm anxious to see what all the hype is about.

I'm expecting a winning season. Anything below .500 will be disappointing to me. Can't wait to get started.

I thought about including Harper initially, but I haven't heard anything about her all offseason. I guess lombard is one of, if not the most athletic girl on the team. She should play a good amount regardless of if it's starting or coming off the bench. Let's hope she can continue this supposebly great shooting from the offseason.

Main reasons why I think Lombard will start at the PG - at least initially - may not last depending on how Amiyah rounds in to shape and Poole's emergence - is that she gives us much needed athleticism and most importantly experience at a crucial position where experience is key. The coaches have raved about her in the offseason and that's a pretty good indication of their playing time. KG has called Swanson the best player on the team - that's high praise. We have 2 players in the line up of Lombard/Spider/Swanson/Bass/Harper that can play point if needed. That's a good thing to have.

Harper - I'm saying she starts based on experience alone - not talent. I think both KP and McCarthy are easily more talented prospects. But we need vets out there at the start and then ease the rookies into the mix as they get comfortable.
