watching this duke/unc game

These teams are not that much better than purdue. They are more aggressive, they have 4 carsen edwards guys. They do have a little more size and speed but purdue shoots better. Just need to get hot for 4 games

And play under control
I agree. UNC looks very solid but we could hang with them if we're knocking down shots. Duke's whole game was getting cheap fouls and getting to the line. We could take them.

I was thinking the exact opposite, lol. I agree that Purdue can beat anyone if they are on, but they will need some help when playing against teams with elite athleticism.

More size? Really?

I think if purdue got more chances to play teams with that athleticism it would be fine. this year they played right with nova and half against louisville (with partial credit for one the road).

The real key is carsen edwards because he can give those shooters extra time. If he is pushing and scoring, purdue is very good.

If he plays like Joel berry did tonight purdue will be cutting down nets. He looks pretty similar

Both teams have wing players who can handle the ball, create a shot, penetrate, etc. similar to Vince but better athletes.
Both Williams and K really let their guys freelance and I tonme, seems like the refs don't call as many cheap fouls which adds to the flow of the game.

As long as Grayson Allen doesn't take out any of our Boilermakers....Maybe we should but a little birdie in Isaac's ear!

This has been Duke's strategy for many years. If they fall behind or get cold from the field, they drive and flop until they get into the bonus, and you're in foul trouble.

They are relentless driving to the basket. Allen and Kennard would be drawing fouls like crazy against us. Not a match-up I want to see.

I wish I had the confidence some here have, but I will say that I'm a long time Boiler fan that has been conditioned to not be overly optimistic .... more of a wait-and-see approach. I see teams with multiple, athletic wings that can penetrate and finish as our kryptonite. As such, I see both UNC and Duke as bad, bad matchups for us.

I'd feel differently if we still had AJH, but we have little to no rim protection once we are broken down and the rotations, while better, aren't as quick as needed.

Offensively, I think we could hang. However, you have to remember that when the other team has athletic wings, our outside shooters won't get those open looks as easily. Just look at the Michigan game. Very few open outside shots and Biggie and Isaac were bottled up most of the game.

I just don't see us getting the stops we'd need. I hope to be proven wrong come NCAA time.

I missed the game (saw UNC won): don't both of them run their halfcourt O in a spread/pro style (where there is a lot of space between the players)?

There are times when Purdue would benefit from doing the same with Carsen bringing the ball up. When everyone's spread out like that, the pick-and-roll can be more effective. I know that they get plenty of points in their motion O setup but running a spread like that from time-to-time plays to CE's strength and can make Purdue even tougher to stop.
