The best I can remember 1967, IU was ranked #4 when they played a ranked purdue team in Bloomington.
That was the year I think, but Indiana went into that game un-ranked (AP had a small period where the rankings were just 10 teams ending in 1968 when it went back to 20) and Purdue was 3rd. Indiana ended up 4th after defeating Purdue.
Since that, Purdue's best-ranked teams going into the Indiana game were 1968 and 1979 (12th) and 2003 (16th).
Indiana is 10th in the latest AP poll - I would have to think this would be at the top of the list. The opening line is what? Somewhere around 28..... "Slim" and "None" packed their bags weeks ago.

8-2 Purdue was 11th when it played 4th-ranked Ohio State @ 9-1.......crushing loss after knocking off 10th-ranked Iowa the week before.
That #4 rank may have been after the season finishing with the 68 Rose Bowl .. USC beat them to end up #1 and IU finished #4. I thought the 67 game Purdue was ranked Top 4 before that bucket game. But too many brain cells destroyed since then to be accurate. 😂 I still wish Purdue would go back to their original "old gold" color.
OJ murdered IU too. Who knew that'd become a trend.
Dont forget not all starting players from JMU which I have pointed out here before. QB - Ohio - 2 RBs from Wake Forest and their leading rushers, 1 from UNC, WR are from IU, 1 JMU and 1 Texas Tech, OL from IU and 1 now starting from JMU due to injury ... I'd say that "sun belt" talent did pretty well in the B1G minus the OSU game. They blew away teams they shouldn't have. scUM was different but scUM also has 2 projected NFL DLs in the first round. Average teams or bad teams would have lost that game to scUM but they did not.

By even suggesting it, anyone who does so sounds like delusional IU fans sounded when Purdue would routinely beat their ass. 2004 on peegs with posters predicting wins cause they wanted it to happen
