He never really "shutdown" travel. At least not for Americans. He shut it down to most foreigners, but as we can now see, Americans can spread covid just like anyone else. If he didn't think it was a hoax, why did he say it was one?

I could with a lab. Do you think the virus can live in a vaccinated body and spread as easily as in one unvaccinated? The numbers of those hospitalized are a good indication. 92% of hospitalized covid cases are unvaccinated. So in a few rare cases, maybe. In the whole vaccinated population? nah

You very rarely see, or hear from them talking on here about Purdue sports. Yet someone brings up a political topic that they think they know more than anyone and they won’t stop posting. 😂 😂 😂 Based on many of their posts we are fortunate they don’t post very often. Maybe some are old Coach Geez or that clown from New Castle that said Gillis would be transferring. 😂

I'm just responding to these posts because I see a lot of health related information that is not true. I'm normally a lurker and just read what others are saying. Since people can get sick from this stuff and some have died, I have decided to respond to what I know to be false or misleading.

He had a choice. He could get the vaccine or lose his job (same choice I had). He chose not to get it. A vaccine isn't a personal choice decision. The whole point of a vaccine program is to get the entire population with immunity to defeat the virus. By a large percentage of the population *choosing* to not get vaccinated, instead we're only creating mutations of the virus instead of defeating it. So, thanks to everyone that has evoked their 'personal choice', a lot of other people will be falling to the delta variant (and other future variants).

I guess one can believe what they want, and there is so much BS coming from every direction, it is hard to know what is truth and what is not. I have read and been told from multiple medical doctors and nurses that there are reasons coronavirus vaccines have never been released en masse before and some of those are they are inherently 'leaky' (allowing breakthrough cases) and are generally (like many other vaccines) non-sterilizing. The effect of both of these conditions can also lead to increased virus mutation rates. Assuming that is true, blaming the unvaccinated for the delta variant is not only unfair, but counter-productive (and especially so, since it was detected before the vaccines were even available). Generally, I believe the vaccine works and it helps, and statistics do back that up, even if the vaccines' efficacies are not what was originally hoped or advertised. Regardless, based on my strong belief in individual liberties, I do not believe it should have been mandated. The mandates are even less reasonable if, as reported over the last several weeks, the FDA approved version (the trustworthiness of which is also going to be suspect to many, given its exceedingly quick approval, relatively speaking) is *still* not available in much of the US. I am not, of course, a medical doctor, or a nurse, and I did not stay in a Holiday Inn last night. I think it really sucks that five coaches (not to mention the thousands of nameless workers across the country) lost their jobs because "my body, my choice" only applies when the hoi oligoi say it does.

As most people that were vaccinated, I don't live in fear and haven't through any of this. I know how to react to a infectious disease. I have dealt with similar situations most of my life. Most people haven't. So I understand why they think the way they do. There is a tremendous amount of misinformation out there and some of it has come from the top.
Over 97% of doctors have been vaccinated. I would call that a pretty good endorsement from the people that should know the most about this situation. Even in that case, most doctors have never dealt with a situation like we have now.
So my first bit of friendly advice is to not listen to anyone on a message board or facebook or any other social platform. Get your information from someone that really knows what they are talking about. If you want to get information from a internet site, I recommend a site called "Your Friendly Neighborhood Virologist". The mods are all virologists and epidemiologists. When I have a question about covid, I ask them and they usually respond that day. It is a rare site on the internet that gives up to date, reliable data. Other than that, talk to your doctor.
On a side note, I didn't START calling people names, I responded in kind to their ridiculous postings. I have also responded to comments that I know to be false or misleading. Personally, I don't care what you do as long as you don't carelessly infect others.
