Vitale mentioned DIgger's famous quote during the broadcast

"Why don't you play Purdue Coach Phelps?"

"Because there are no roads from West Lafayette to South Bend."

Go F yourself Digger. Bwahahahahaha!

The other interesting related stat that came up was this was Purdue's first win over ND since '66....that covers only four games IIRC....thanks to Phelps.

Yeah, Vitale was on (and has been) the ND wagon. But such is life for us Boilers right?

Still recall the Vitale quote during a 1990 Purdue-IU game on ESPN: "Come on Deegah, play Puh-dooooo." Personally can't stand listening to either of those obnoxious easterners.

Yeah he mentioned his two daughters. I still cannot listen to him. I almost had to mute the sound. His love of all things Duke is nauseating and played out as is his entire schtick. It was funny that when the game was over he made a point of saying ND played so well in the first half, etc. but didn't go out of his way to mention how we outscored them by 19 in the second half. That being said, I believe off the radio he is extremely generous with his time and money.

Honestly, if you do your prep work before calling a Purdue game, how do you not learn how to correctly pronounce Swanigan's last name? How does Fleming not lean over to Vitale during a break and correct him?

I don't have a problem with Vitale; I mean I think he is a genuine good guy and generous and all. But he is definitely a homer when it comes to the ACC. I also don't like listening to him. He talks too much about other things than the game at hand. I thought it was a bit embarrassing when he kept saying PJ wasn't much of a scorer. PJ has been one of our best 3 point shooters this year; (hitting more 3's than anyone else except for Dakota) but it was obvious Vitale didn't know this.

By the way, was anyone else annoyed with the plugs for the upcoming Louisville - Kentucky game? Who cares!

I think Dickie mentioned he has 7 degrees from family members from ND. Not sure that's a good thing to mention while commentating a game where it feels like he has an obvious bias. Maybe that's just my own bias listening to him what feels like *routing against* the boilers all game.

I heard Vitale speak at a corporate meeting a few years ago. He did a remarkable job. His life story is pretty incredible and he does a tremendous amount of charity work. That being said, I can only handle him in small doses. I prefer Dakich.

My ears are still hurting from listening to that asshat stroke the Domers and Brey the entire game.
I think his daughter went there. Dickie just can't be a pro when it comes to allegiances. Sorry Punaj I now see you covered this.

Yeah. They kept saying 50 years since Purdue last beat ND. Didn't mention that the overall series is basically even.
