Utah State v. Purdue - Game Thread (2024 NCAA Tournament, Midwest Region - round of 32)

CBS announcers forced to give Purdue props. That's when you know Purdue is dialed in. Same game plan 2nd half.
This narrative is so stupid. Many of them are actively blatantly rooting for us. They just are accurate in our past issues in the tourney. Stop with this victim mentality. We deserve any bit of doubt people have in us, that doesnt mean they dont want us to win.

I would say there is no other team than us that I have heard multiple commentators say they want to see make a big run

Know what's going to piss them off even more? Win.

Heide and Colvin are showing what next year’s team is going to look like.
With Catching and others, it may be Painter’s most athletic team.

Like their athletic ability, but each only have 1 bucket, no?

I hope you are saying they are going to be productive enough to be starters. So far both great bench players. Both have been good on D ..to me that's the biggest deal

You're right, the narrative is stupid, but it's very much real. Only ones worst are ESPN. Maybe you didn't watch their pick'em show right after selection sunday, but I did. National media loves to dog Purdue.

I want to say he was playing chess while other teams were playing checkers, but I think it's more of the fact that Colving is finally understanding defensive concepts.
This is the only explanation that makes sense to me. I feel bad for Morton but as Painter said yesterday, has to do what’s best for Purdue.

It very odd there wasn’t a little more mins down the stretch for either tho. Very odd. Defense coming together for March is a tad…..convenient

We’ve given them reason to. And made it easy. It’s like the Cubs tho, once you do it, it dies. If we had even made the sweet 16 last year, or even the round of 32, wouldn’t have been as bad.

Everyone knew our guards were young. No one thought that youth would translate into laying a turd against one of the worse teams in the field ever. And one of the worst in the country

I'm getting excited to think about next years team, but I'm not going to let it take away from this year. Assuming we hold tight, we take on Gonzaga for the third time in two years. Yes, we have blown them out twice but they have got it together and don't think they will forget. Gonzaga, Purdue, Tennessee and Creighton. There are no easy games left, that are ALL going to be hard.

All that said...

Edey... 21 points, 11 Reb, 3 assists, 2 blocks and 1 steal. IN ONE HALF!!!!

I don’t remember Stan van gundy in the past tournaments but he’s been a good commentator on today’s game.
