they have a horrid D, seen enough of thatseems solid, good record, longevity……thoughts ?
He was in the mix 2 year ago. Not sure his name excites the fan base or players. Might not be a big enough splash to get the program off the bottom.seems solid, good record, longevity……thoughts ?
Didn’t he turn us down 2 years ago?He was in the mix 2 year ago. Not sure his name excites the fan base or players. Might not be a big enough splash to get the program off the bottom.
Silverfield from MemphisToledo or Miami U coach, Midwest guys, know the dudes and HS coaches in the region…..they would love Purdue, take them to Harry’s and ink it!!
That would be the home run, he could start tomorrowMullen would be a great hire.
Any coach hired is starting the second they are hired. No you are not coaching a bowl game. That would be the home run, he could start tomorrow
No thanks...seems solid, good record, longevity……thoughts ?

I love martin at miami. Checks all the boxes and been around the block. Not that this matters or checks a box but he just looks like a purdue guy. Very tiller/keady esque.Toledo or Miami U coach, Midwest guys, know the dudes and HS coaches in the region…..they would love Purdue, take them to Harry’s and ink it!!
Counting aassistant coaching he has been there since 2009.Feels like the ship has sailed on Jason Candle at Toledo. He has been at Toledo for 10 years and his team was 7-5 this season.
I don't think he had good things to say about Purdue when we were trying to get Torres to transfer-out.Feels like the ship has sailed on Jason Candle at Toledo. He has been at Toledo for 10 years and his team was 7-5 this season.
Have your people call my people.I know a guy who knows a guy…….D guru….interested?
Retread to the Max.Starting to think more about Chip Kelly.
HC at big time programs, HC in the NFL, offensive mind, immediate name rec for the fan base and would garner national attention (not on the level of Coach Prime, but ESPN would take notice), extensive coaching network to build a staff.
He can sell players on knowing what it takes to get and play in the NFL.

Silverfield looks intriguing. Depending on buyout, current contract is thru 2028. Recruits the SE, Texas, Ark, SW.Silverfield from Memphis
I'm all for getting 50% of our recruits from the south, especially the skill positions. Hit FL, GA, TX hard. I'll take the 2nd level guys that either don't make it at UF, FSU, UM, etc over kids from the MW looking at MAC or lower.Silverfield looks intriguing. Think we need to move away from MW ties. Improve and expand recruiting. Fewer MAC level recruits.

agree, and if you look at Memphis classes they wind up in the 60's usually , so this guy does alot w/ lessI'm all for getting 50% of our recruits from the south, especially the skill positions. Find your OL in the MW.
I recall Tiller got a lot of players from Texas.I'm all for getting 50% of our recruits from the south, especially the skill positions. Hit FL, GA, TX hard. I'll take the 2nd level guys that either don't make it at UF, FSU, UM, etc over kids from the MW looking at MAC or lower.

Tiller got a lot of guys from TX and FL. The other thing he did was find speed and then converted that speed into positions of need.I recall Tiller got a lot of players from Texas.
I would say that was more Hagan then Tiller. Tiller was a great football mind and understood he needed good coaches to become a good program.Tiller got a lot of guys from TX and FL. The other thing he did was find speed and then converted that speed into positions of need.
He got several guys to the NFL who came out of high school playing one position but then converted to something else at Purdue and succeeded.
Speed kills and if you watched Purdue, especially at positions like LB or RB, we lacked it, big time.
If this is the player I think it is, that was one heck of a recruiting coup by Tiller.I would say that was more Hagan then Tiller. Tiller was a great football mind and understood he needed good coaches to become a good program.
My cousin was Purdue's best recruit and came-in as one of the top LB's in the nation and quickly got moved to DT, because he was to slow. That's just reality and he understood that.
You would also know he had the largest helmet either at Purdue or the B1G at one point. If this is the player I think it is, that was one heck of a recruiting coup by Tiller.
I definitely remember Tiller getting a lot of guys to switch positions and having success with it. Matt Light was another one. Recruited as a tight end, and Tiller pushed him inside and he became an All-Pro in the NFL.
If I remember correctly he was not a players coach either. Also osu fans want him out after his questionable play callingChip Kelley quit on UCLA didnt he? Not sure if he would be even remotely up to the task.
Yeah, Tiller was great at that. Tim Stratton was a WR that they bulked up to a TE. I believe Gilbert Gardner was a WR initially that got moved over to LB.If this is the player I think it is, that was one heck of a recruiting coup by Tiller.

Shaun Phillips showed up to practice ready to catch passes from Brees as a TE. Had no idea he was about to become a big time DEYeah, Tiller was great at that. Tim Stratton was a WR that they bulked up to a TE. I believe Gilbert Gardner was a WR initially that got moved over to LB.
short and fat. Doesn't set the tone for physical conditioning. He's a whiner and a has been. No thanks.
based on what?Back to the subject of Helton. No inside info, but seems like this could be the guy.
