My guess is that he wanted to commit, but that he had influential people in his life advising him to wait, so he is keeping his options open for now. This may be a case where they don’t see anyone else committing to Purdue who would cause the offer to be rescinded any time soon and they are probably correct about that.
If Painter offers another solid 2026 big, it could be a catalyst.
How many times have we heard that from Brian and then suddenly you start hearing nothing about a recruit or he keeps saying we are solid up until they commit to someone else.
Old Boiler has more insight into recruiting than Brian.
I’ll give Brian some props. He’s kind of a Purdue homer. And he withholds a lot of info he knows. He doesn’t like publishing stuff until he discusses it with the recruits. So he is often outscooped by speculative writers. But he does actually talk to the recruits he writes about rather than just writing stats and copying other reports. And he is very rarely wrong.
Yes he is! Sometimes his articles make it seem like he is the media contact for the Purdue athletic department . That’s not a bad thing. He’s also very careful what he releases and the timing of his releases. He very rarely speculates. Look at the football recruiting. Someone said Berymon is 100% for Purdue with official visits to Texas and MSU still upcoming. You can bet it wasn’t Brian who made that prediction.Wait, he is?!
