Train Wreck. Clown Show.

My point is; it's well-worth it. It's a massive undertaking and can be re-examined and improved, but the proof has been in our astounding economic success when we are not an isolationist nation.
You are confusing 'advocating to be isolationist' with requiring wealthy deadbeat nations to pay more for their own defense.

.

The day that dumb-ass Trump was inaugurated, the Dow was at 44,000.

There's another market meltdown happening this morning and the Dow now sits at 39,000.

That's about a 12% loss in the value of the entirety of American corporate value, due to Trump's incompetence, in ten weeks.

To say that isolationism and Trump are a complete disaster is an understatement.

Your childish meme fetish takes up a lot of space in a given thread without adding value, not that adding value is a goal of yours.

I hope you are rushing to put all of your hundreds of dollars safely in the hole in the ground in which you keep your head.

You and this "Riveting" dude certainly don't come off as the best and brightest. I'm guessing you two didn't get into the engineering school, if you ever actually attended Purdue at all.
I'm actually the only living alumnus with two earned doctorates from Purdue University. There are a couple of guys with a PhD and an honorary dotcorate, but I'm the only one with two earned doctorates. Both were fully funded by the US Army and I had a total of eleven years of payback time. I have no BS or MS degrees, only two doctorates.

Get it through your immensely thick skull that the US protecting allies gives the US power. If we retreat to this isolationist stance, we lose lose that standing in the world. You don't understand this, do you?
“Gen. Dwight Eisenhower, NATO’s first supreme allied commander Europe, felt strongly that his mission was to get Europeans “back on their military feet” — not for American troops to become the permanent bodyguard for Brussels and Berlin.

“If in 10 years, all American troops stationed in Europe for national defense purposes have not been returned to the United States,” he wrote of NATO in 1951, “then this whole project will have failed.”

“But as leaders of NATO allies gather in Washington on Tuesday for the alliance’s 75th anniversary, some 90,000 U.S. troops are stationed in Germany, Italy, Britain and elsewhere, making up a significant portion of the 500,000 NATO troops on high readiness.”

Dow now at 38,900.

China enacts 35% tariffs on all American imports.
The right thinking this is fine is so wild. How brainwashed do you have to be just watch your retirement and net worth just get absolutely depleted and think it is okay. Really gives credance to Trump saying he can shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and people would still support him. He's actively shooting America right now and not losing support.

Would that be a double negative loss, or a gain in standing?

Get it through your thin, shallow skull that the US paying for the defense of wealthy allies weakens the US by having to use taxpayers' money for deadbeat 'allies' with expansive social welfare systems - and could draw us into wars (but from your viewpoint, that would be good for our economy despite the death and destruction, right?).
Sorry, your opinion is not backed up by history. "Deadbeat allies" is such an utterly ridiculous take. You and JD are two peas in a rotten pod.

I'm sure that buried in these random quotes there is a point. I'm also sure it's not a good one based on historical knowledge of your ridiculous opinions. Further, quoting Eisenhower is a bit ... odd?

The US became a hegemony largely through its military presence and aid to allies. Burning it down and p*ssing on the ashes isn't going to make the country stronger.

You are expecting the market to keep going down and never go back up? How many times in market history has that happened before?

I do think it'll go up, but it'll be when we get a competent administration back in office. There is no turnaround on the horizon here under the current administration.. at the absolute best you are causing factories to come to the U.S. and causing the prices of goods to sky rocket.

A term used to "describe someone who is unwilling to pay debts or accept responsibilities. "

You think our NATO 'allies' have met their commitments for defense spending?

Too soon to say which goods will 'sky rocket' - or are you claiming all goods will?

PS, by competent admin 'back in office', which previous admin are you claiming was competent? The one that opened the southern border - or a different one?

Most goods will. That's what manufacturing in the U.S. will bring. There's a reason we typically outsource a lot of manufacturing to other countries.. it's very expensive to manufacture here. I can't find a single thing in what is being done that will lower prices. Unless you can point to one?

And I would say any administration that is not this Trump administration honestly. Biden, Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush Sr., etc. I may even include Trump's first administration, honestly, because he had people to check his urges then and it wasn't just about revenge on a single guy's enemies. The bar is competency, not whether I agree with all of the policies.

Good one about Biden competency.

You expect the prices of optional goods to skyrocket and stay high if people don't buy them?

Exactly. He's got you. The only reason you wouldn't care is if you aren't investing your money. It's a lose-lose for his followers.
Do I need to explain it in baby steps? When Fords are made in the US, the money stays in the US economy. When Fords are made in China, Mexico or Thailand, the money goes into the economies of China, Mexico and Thailand.

At least the administration was competent. Not litigating his mental state here.

And I mean.. yeah? It's not just optional goods that will go up? It's all goods? Why would they go down? There isn't an economic reason manufacturing in the U.S. will cause prices to go down. Supply is only going to go down..

Yep. But supply is going to go down because we are one country and cannot replace the Earth's ability to manufacture parts. I mean even all those manufacturing plants on uninhabitated islands are being punished right now with tariffs. That, plus the increased costs of manufacturing in the U.S. will further cause supply to go down. Further, costs will rise and people will buy less. Lower supply and less sales of the lower supply means less money in the U.S., not more.

Not to mention that we have to find land to build these facilities, build them, and find competent people to work in them for there even to be a chance of receiving ANY of the benefit Trump is proposing, which will take yearss.

This is the Trump administration.

No, but you are demonstrating your own mental state if you think the Afg withdrawal, Iran appeasement, and open border policy, among many others, were signs of competency.

Why would optional goods go down? Because nobody will buy them if they 'sky rocket.' They are optional. People can live without them, or substitute for them. You were joking, right?

If you had any money, you might buy Tesla or other stock at this time - unless you think the market will never go back up -- which possibly you do.

Your hysteria is entertaining - and much better without the childish memes.

But supply is going to go down because we are one country and cannot replace the Earth's ability to manufacture parts.
I defy you to name a single automotive component that cannot and is not being manufactured within the US.

The bold all-caps headline was a direct cut and paste from the news source.

Here's another one, from the editorial board of that 'liberal rag' The Financial Times:

"America's Astonishing Act of Self-harm"

Translation: about 51.5% of Americans were naïve enough to vote for a train wreck, clown show, felon, con-man, and we are now seeing the result of an empowered complete idiot.

You think I am hysterical? I am fine - I have financial security. You, on the other, hand, apparently have no empathy for tens of millions of people that can easily get in serious trouble as a result of Trump's horrific decisions.

Why are you talking about optional goods? I don't follow what you are saying. If supply goes down, then prices go up. That goes with anything.

Non-sequitor. It's quantity that matters.

Regardless, apparently, the market disagrees with both of you.

Economic Armageddon is being reported by the same news outlets that told is that the security leak to the editor of The Atlantic was Benedict Arnold, the Charge of the Light Brigade and the Battle of Little Bighorn all rolled into one. Maybe CNBC is frantically trying to goose up some more Trump hate? Now that their journalist integrity is already badly soiled, what more can they lose?

Here's some hysteria for you - the markets are 'thisclose' to automatically suspending trading.

Hysterical, apparently funny to you, complete economic meltdown.

Not as callous as someone like you who didn't object to the open border.

Mike Waltz has proven to be a national security risk.
Hegseth and Gabbard's biggest problem is blatant, deliberate, lying about Mike Waltz's misconduct in sworn Congressional testimony.

You really have to wonder about the objectivity of the news media. We have had ongoing airstrikes against the Houthis rebels in Yemen for 20 straight days. Did you know that? There have been days and days and days of squealing about the security nothingburger security leak, but did you know that we’ve been at war for 20 days?

Meanwhile, the US continues a massive military buildup in preparation of taking out Iran’s nuclear program. Maybe that’s more newsworthy than the nothingburger security leak three weeks ago?

If you are 55 and younger there probably isn't a concern. If older...like me this may be a great time to rollover to a Roth as long as you don't get stuck in a higher bracket unless you need that money to live...

I don't recall any posts of yours during the first years of the Biden admin saying you objected to the open border with all the crime, sex trafficking and drugs that came with it. If you did, bump one and I will apologize to you. If not, you can admit you are lying once more.
