That one hurts, but I don't want to hear anybody come on here after that game and complain about our coach or any of our players. You'll just be displaying your ignorance. That was primarily just Peter Jok being totally unstoppable.

There were very few bad decisions by the Purdue team in that game. Sure, that was a blown call at the end, but Iowa played amazing just to be in that position. A bad turnover by Biggie and a few missed bunnies, but other than that, Purdue made very good decisions in this game. We took good shots and worked hard.

Matthias busted his butt trying to stay with Jok, and actually did stay with him most of the time. Carson Edwards also did a good job.

Carson Edwards made one or two bad shots but also showed some true composure late in the game.

At one point, PJ ended up guarding Jok and I thought sure Jok would take him to the hole and score. But PJ played great defense and shut him down.

That one might cost us a seed line at the end of the year, but there's not much we could have done differently.

First, I am personally tired of repeatedly tipping a hat to whatever opposing player it happens to be that Purdue simply has no answer for, and far more so when it happens to be the opposing team's best player. Purdue had one guy to worry about when they faced Minnesota...and they failed miserably...they had one guy to worry about tonight...and failed miserably again...as such, I am not just willing to tip a hat and move on.

Iowa rode its best player to a victory...Purdue did not. Iowa made big shots and got good looks and converted down the stretch...Purdue did not.

Purdue has flat out pi$$ed away golden opportunities...to solidify a solid/top seed...solidify national recognition...and solidify itself at the top of the conference...that is (or at least should not be) not acceptable or worthy of just tipping a hat and moving on...no way Purdue should have lost at home to Minnesota, and flat out no way that they should have lost to Iowa tonight either...it is precisely why Purdue is who they are and will remain so.

Painter/Purdue had a team a year ago worthy of winning the conference and making some noise in the NCAA tournament, and it failed to do so (in epic fashion for that matter in the NCAA tournament)...it has the same this year, and is on the exact same path.

You are already displaying yours.

Did you even watch what Jok was doing? Matthias was right on him for most of his shots.

I understand being frustrated, but tell me what Matthias, or anybody else, should have done differently. Have you ever actually tried to play defense on a quick player with great jumping ability and a quick release?

There were a few bad decisions, as a said, but not many. If you think there were many, then list them out for me.

Also, tell me the Purdue player that failed to hustle.
Iowa fan that was at the game tonight, here.

I thought Purdue looked great most of the night and is the best team I've seen Iowa play at home this year by far. Purdue has so many weapons, I hope Iowa looks like them in another season or two with its young guys. If Purdue hadn't hit a slump right at the end, I think they'd of won.

That was the best all-around (offense and defense) game Iowa had played all year. And keep in miind, despite its mediocre record, Iowa has played great offense and scored a ton this year. It's crap defense that has let them down. Tonight, they actually played D in the second half, got hot just in time as Purdue got cold and stole one from a likely superior opponent. That's life on the road in the Big Ten!

Good luck the rest of the way.

If we would have limited it to JUST Jok getting his we would have won by double digits. We got carved up by their freshmen one after another. Also by a walk on nonetheless. Purdue's defense against subpar Big Ten teams has been really lax.

Iowa fan here. I don't know Purdue,s depth at the 4 & 5 position, but it seemed like Haas & Swanigan did not aggresively defend the paint. It was like they did not want to get in foul trouble. During the game, I thought it was a brilliant strategy. But at the end of the game, I think it was one of the factors in the loss. Is depth at the 4 & 5 and issue?

Iowa's Big's free throw numbers are weak. Fouling them should not have hurt you if you have back ups. Iowa has decent back ups at the 4 & 5 position, with 2 more Big's on the way next year with no Big's graduating.
