This Team Stinks

Wow. I don’t share your opinion. We got lucky. But, it’s a W.
I agreed with the commentators. Purdue scored 3 or 4 times on plays out of a time out. Fouling at the end prevented a tying three and showed confidence in our guys hitting the free throws. Offense/defense substitutions down the stretch were solid. Pressuring Wisconsin up the floor in the last 5 seconds prevented them from getting any type decent shot at the buzzer.

Lmao alright man. Yeah, I’m gonna go to Mackey. I’m such a loser, you’re right.

I express my opinion of saying players were playing soft (all this on a message board designed to facilitate conversion about a basketball team and its players), and you call me a loser of a human?

Sheesh. Seek therapy.

I apologize. Sorry for hurting your and their feelings. Be well. I’ll watch out for the moral police next time.

The fact that you can’t distinguish between making comments on a message board and going to Mackey and saying stuff to a player’s face. Come on, man. Lighten up.
I’m not the one questioning the toughness of a group of young men who are going to win the B1G outright by 2-3 games.

Keep pounding away on your little phone, tough guy.

Not interested in the rest of the conference.

Interested in wanting to see this team play its best basketball heading into March, and I don’t think they’re doing that right now, which is a bit worrisome.

Of course, this team has had a hell of a season and it should be celebrated. Players should be proud.

I think it’s okay to also call out some glaring issues. It’s a message board.
It's ****ing tiresome reading your negativity here especially after a road win in the B1G. Please just stfu.

Fair enough. I probably should have directed my response just at the OP.

That comment was way over the top.

When did I ever question their toughness? I simply stated that they were playing soft. That's not the same as questioning toughness. I didn't attack them personally or question their character as individuals.

Keep playing the moral police. Only those who don't truly know themselves feel the need to constantly sit on their high-horse.

Clearly, your identity is much too tied up into Purdue basketball.

Keep calling people losers and tough guys...I'm sure it makes you feel better.

Calling them soft isn’t questioning their toughness? LOL.

Keep those thumbs busy, proving how much of a tough guy you are. You and losers like Dave K need to go do some deep self examination, calling these B1G champs “soft”.

Saying they're playing soft is an observation, and isn't the same as questioning their overall toughness as human beings. Not that difficult to understand.

I hope you find fulfillment in other areas of your life. I love you, man.

It takes quite the insecure person to call these young men soft. Keep pounding away on your little phone, and making yourself feel better.

When are you gonna cry again about firing Painter?

Wisconsin was hot last night and hit 10 3s. Purdue was cold outside shooting. Purdue still gutted out a win in a hostile environment on the road against a good BIG team desperate for win. How is that playing soft? Also, when play stopped, players like Jenkins were always pulling in guys and talking (leadership, not yelling at each other). So the back half of conference play has had tougher teams and more BIG teams have finally figured out how to slow Purdue down a little. Not worried at all. This season has been awesome! People I interact with in my business have been coming up to me all season and saying "you must be really enjoying this season as a Purdue fan".

You make a lot of good points. That's the beauty of a message board -- different opinions, points, perspectives.

Credit to you for sharing your viewpoints/perspective instead of resorting to infantile name-calling and/or insulting those you don't agree with.

Too bad you don’t have the balls to call these kids soft to their face. Or even to call in to Painter’s radio show and tell him that over the phone.
Truthfully, I'd rather spend my time doing other things than fly to West Lafayette and/or call in to Painter's radio show. I'll stick with the message board.

I love you, man. I send you nothing but peace and love.

Good point. Also--one of the toughest things to do late in the season is go on the road and beat bubble teams on their home court. Wisconsin absolutely needed a win last night and threw everything they had at Purdue. Purdue found a way to win without playing particularly great basketball.

I haven't said Painter should be fired in years.
This you? LOL

Hate to say it, but it’s time for Painter to go.

He’s a good coach, representative of the university, and leader of young men, but it’s time to move on.

Can’t continue to let the fear-based mindset of “we’ll be just like IU if we fire Painter” serve as a primary reason for keeping Painter around.

Look, it’s been 18 years. The proof is what it is. This program will remain good, not great as long as Painter is in charge.

Firing Painter may very well result in a temporary step back, but if this program ever wants to carve a new identity and get over the hump, it has to be done. Painter simply hasn’t proven that he can make the proper in-game adjustments on a consistent basis, on the biggest stage.

Change is difficult, but the only constant in life.

Okay, so almost a year ago. I was wrong and I no longer believe Painter should be fired. That's the beautiful thing about being human -- we're allowed to change our minds.

I still love you.

No doubt this team has issues. Three point shooting , production at the four. Maybe getting out of the conference will help. For now enjoy the win and OUTRIGHT championship
I really believe that our three point shooters (freshmen) would hit alot more 3`s if they put a little more air under the ball.

I swear we have the worst fan base in America.

Reading this board you would think we were .500 and trying to make the Tourney as an 11 seed.

We are going to win the B1G by 3 games, be a #1 seed in the NCAA tournament (barring total collapse
This weekend) and Vegas has us with the fifth best odds to win it all.

But here? we are weak, slow, can’t shoot and backed our way into the BI1G title. We will be lucky to reach the second weekend.

Crazy.

You can say (freshman) Loyer is susceptible to being taken out of his game with physicality without calling him soft and weak. As if every other frosh has come in filled out and a physical specimen. You can point out Morton’s shortcomings without saying he doesn’t belong in the B1G. He hit two massive three’s last night btw

Our institution is amazing. Our fan base leaves alot to be desired.

To quote Mike Tyson. Boiler dic. Everyone is a tough guy until they’ve been punched in the face. Have you ever been in a fight and punched in the face or do you work in a cubicle calling people soft?

Fletcher especially has been rushing his shots. He struggles so much to get open that even when he is he's rushing it. Seemed better against Wis in the 1st half and nice to see. Can be a BIG x factor again...
Also nice to see him match Essegian so we didn't have to hear how Painter made a mistake.
;)

No you pretty much whine and cry all year, every year. But we’re all used to your tantrums at this point.

I get where you're coming from. But, let's try not to let a handful of message board posters define the entire fan base. Purdue basketball social media has had a positive buzz all year and probably attracts a much bigger and more representative following than this very small community of maybe 50 or 100 people.

Forgot to mention it was senior night too. I knew this one would be toug

I can't put my finger on it other than we are shooting and playing scared. Don't know why maybe a confidence thing.. who knows
After awhile conference teams get use to what your running and tend to take plays away that’s worked before you have to run different sets of plays and hit your open shots so you can throw it in to big guy
