Mathias is on the floor. Smart kid that makes good decisions, great passer and can keep the defense honest with his ability to shoot the 3. If he gains confidence in his shooting ability, AJ and DM could be a great inside/outside threat.
Offensively, yes.Mathias is on the floor. Smart kid that makes good decisions, great passer and can keep the defense honest with his ability to shoot the 3. If he gains confidence in his shooting ability, AJ and DM could be a great inside/outside threat.
His defense has been good this year. I would love to see him on the floor more.Offensively, yes.
I could be wrong but I don't see DM getting extended minutes at PG this year. If he gets more pt it will be at the expense of Stephens or Cline, unless one of our PG duo get in foul trouble. His defense has been fine. Our best offensive PG and best defensive PG are not the same person this year but Mathias' D has been fine. He has decent length and really good lateral movement. But his decision making and passing is light years a head of Hill and Thompson. Mathias should be in at PG at least 50% of the time going forward. Giving up a bit on D to get into a better flow on offense is the way to go imo.
I agree. If you watch him when he is out there (pretty early into is second year) he is starting to anticipate where the offensive player wants to go and he is now moving over to stop the drive. does not sound like much but for a guard it's huge and mask any athleticism shortcomings. His defense has been fine. Its an interesting debate point for us Boiler fans. I am of the mind set that sacrificing a little bit of defense for a better offensive flow is the way too go. Especially this year due to the talent we have on the back end to erase a lot of perimeter defensive mistakes.I could be wrong but I don't see DM getting extended minutes at PG this year. That's the beauty of our team, he doesn't have to stay in front of him. Let him try to shoot over AJ, Haas or Swanigan if he gets to the rim.looking at the next game, I don't think we will see DM guarding Gesell... I don't think he could stay in front of him... Probably Hill
