This John Thompson situation is a microcosm of the police/AA debate in this country

One side says he was pulled over at 1:30 in the morning for not having a front license plate. He immediately plays the race card with the officer. Turns out, Thompson doesn't have a Minnesota driver's license. He only has a Wisconsin license which has been suspended since 2019 for failure to pay child support.

The other side says he was pulled over because of the color of his skin.

Regarding the front license plate - Thompson claims he didn't have the necessary tools to put it on. I've never lived in a state that required a front license plate but wouldn't the tool required be the same tool he would've used to put the back plate on - i.e. a screwdriver???

So will the two sides of this debate ever agree on these situations?

For those that say white people don't get pulled over for such trivial violations, just a couple of months ago I got pulled over and ticketed in a mall parking lot for not having a seatbelt on. Ugh!

I got pulled over for driving on the white line. Should I have claimed the race card?

Side note, when the cop came up and asked why, I angrily said to let the a$$ tailgating me go around. He did not like that much but, let me go with a warning.

A few years ago, I got pulled over twice in one day (it was one of those days).
I didn't see the speed limit change when I entered a small town. That cop, a white guy, gave me a warning.

Later in the day, I didn't come to a complete stop before making a right turn on red. That cop, a black guy, wrote me a ticket.
Should I have played the race card?

Depends on what color you identified with that day:rolleyes:

Virginia has the front license plate required and they are nazis about it. They don't care about your skin color. They are collecting revenue.

You know...you're right. I should have identified as black to the black cop. Maybe it would have saved me $150.

Anyone know if they still ask to racially identify on college apps?

Dont tell anyone, but a nickel OR dime many times works...a dime sometimes works even if a phillips head. People should wear seatbelts, but the government should not be able to fine an adult for not wearing one.
