This isn't going to be popular, but I think former coach DH2 deserves some accolades

While I said from the first announcement of his hiring that he was the wrong choice he did recruit kids with character who rose above and won the bucket back.

Those kids, while undermanned stayed the course and played their hearts out even when getting taken to the wood shed way too many times. Props to everyone of those players who spent the hours in the weight room, in the classroom, and believing in themselves when many here and elsewhere didn't. What a great accomplishment.

Brohm and staff (and I'm not totally convinced there shouldn't be two more wins for the season lost by bad coaching) convinced these kids to stay and play and that may be Brohm's biggest accomplishment.

So....congrats to CDH2 for recruiting kids of great character, and to the players for doing what they did. And to the staff, if you're back next year the bar at 6-6 isn't nearly good enough.
I am confident that CDH2 is patting himself on the back, so, I will consider that "credit" enough...as, the negative and damage that he did so outweighed the minimal positive of doing the bare minimum expected (bring in kids with character and that are quality representatives of/for the University), I don't think any more credit than that is necessary.

He was seemingly a good/decent/nice man, but, he was without question the worst coach in the history of Purdue football, and that is quite an incredible accomplishment all things considered...so, no, I will not be crediting him at all for the fact that more was accomplished in one year with less by a new coach and staff than the guy that he succeeded.

Sure.....and while you're in Fantasy Land, have Mitch and the BOT's rename Purdue to Burke University.
Hey - I’m just following your “Hey Let’s Credit the Loser” line of thinking to its logical conclusion. Were you just trying to be the “contrarian guy”?

Not to get political, but you would have to give credit to Obama for the 2017 economy with your line of thinking...

All Purdue head coaches have recruited some B1G and NFL caliber players. Using this logic, there should be a statue of Colletto in front of Ross-Ade.
New Pal Boiler... I think we both mentioned the talent that was left behind by Colletto several months ago on this forum and were scoffed at for even mentioning it.... Facts do not lie...but to give Hazell credit for the success of this season is absurd. JC recruited well but could not coach his teams to the point that the talent could prove out. CJB has held this team together with enough Duct tape "Grads, transfers and JUCO`s that the good players we do have got us six wins......

And Colletto recruited some of those players from... (gasp)... Indiana!

I guess you are entitled to your opinion. I'm just thankful Brohm was quick to assess our deficiencies and went out on the trail to bring in some 5 yr transfers to fill the gaping voids that existed from the ruins left by Hazell.

Yes, DH (probably more like his staff) did recruit some players. I think that was closer to the "blind squirrel finding a nut" than Hazell knowing what he was doing.

Read the Antoine Miles story and you may see things differently. A player not given the chance to play under DH2 and staff.

Brohm filling the holes at the right time, being a great evaluater of talent, having 2 former head coaches on staff, this just adds up to a very bright future in Boilerland.

You are right. What you said is unpopular.Hazell would have lost with a roster of 4 stars.

I'll just ask, who was the Defensive MVP this year? A Hazell recruit? or a 5th year senior LB that came with Brohm to Purdue? a case could be made that the Defensive MVP was the defensive coordinator who also arrived with Brohm.

So in essence, just like Hope diehards when Hazell was hired, all of your thoughts can pretty much be summed up as “Hazell is my guy, I hope Brohm fails... and not only do I hope he fails, I can’t wait to look for failure where there is none.”

Relax bud.. it would have taken your hero that you love so much many years to get past 6 wins in TWO COMBINED seasons....

Face it, the passive Barry Bonds will go down as the worst coach in Purdue history if Purdue plays another 500 years.

Lol.. you do realize your guy was a ****ing Joke at this level right? His staffs playcalling on both sides wasn’t even good at a high school JV Level ...

I get frustrated with a few things Brohm does but he’s Don Shula compared to passive Bonds

Why the Barry Bonds references? They only have one thing in common..

and Brohm stated as much about this team multiple times....stating the players that started the season were good enough to compete with most teams in the country....but if any injury occurred at one of many positions, that competitiveness would quickly diminish. It is no wonder that Purdue struggled against Rutgers and Nebraska seeing as those two games were where Purdue was hit the most with injuries (specifically Hunte against Nebraska and our inability to defend the pass).

Has to be Markus Bailey. 78 total tackles, 7 sacks, 10 TFL's, 1 INT, 2 passes defended, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery.

That kid is NFL ready in my opinion, with his versatility: can rush, cover, tackle, etc. He’s better right now than some of the schmos the Colts are running out there at LB.

Pathetic troll job or stupidest post ever. May god have mercy on your soul.
