Purdue is a hot commodity right now and if Coach Brohm decides to go back home, we should be able to attract a top-tier or hot up-and-coming coach. Think of all the upside:

1. New and updated facilities
2. An AD who is on board and willing to commit to the program
3. A potential top 25 recruiting class (minus whatever players Brohm could poach on his way out)
4. A Heisman contender coming back
5. A potential 5th year senior QB with starting experience
6. An energized fan base

Of all those points, I feel like Rondale Moore and the top 25 class would weigh the heaviest on the coach’s decision to stay or go. He sold Rondale on Purdue and now the kid is a Heisman contender next year...that would be a hell of a thing to walk away from.

Yep...today we'll find out if he is a man of his word. I hope he is...it is more important than any other expedient circumstance that may arise.

With respect, some of your assumptions are questionable. If Brohm leaves most of our quality recruits will move on as we most probably cannot hire a new coach with sufficient due diligence until most probably the first of February and by then the horses will be out of the barn. Secondly, assuming an energized fan base is a real stretch as many of us, myself included, will be very much discouraged by our inability to retain Brown. Thirdly, it is not beyond reason that Moore follows Brohm to Louisville so there goes your Heisman candidate. And, lastly, as much as I respect Bobinski, there will be those who will question his effectiveness when he cannot retain Brohm. I appreciate your optimism but you are way off base. Norm

No way in hell Rondale Moore will sit out a year when he is a potential Heisman candidate. That makes no sense at all. He would be the first Heisman contender in the history of football who voluntarily sits out a season.

We would have a new coach much sooner than that. Most likely before January.

February????

If CJB leaves we will have a new coach within 2 weeks. I'm sure MBob has a short list to start calling on just in case.

Yeah, the Feb thing would be a complete disaster. Purdue would have 0 recruits. The hire would have to happen within 10 days. Maybe you just wanted to use the phrase due diligence

If we could make a quick hire and bring in a coach who plays the same air raid style of offense, I feel like we could keep some of the offensive recruits. I think it’s universally accepted that Karlaftis would be gone.

Pass on Kingsbury.
And LOFL at February.
No to Kingbury, anyway he's out visiting USC for their OC job as Martin was let go. If we need to cross the coaching hiring bridge, hopefully Mike Norvell will be there.

And the AD will try to get recruits to sit tight until new coach can talk to them. Doesn't mean there won't be some attrition. Maybe a new coach would bring some of his recruits with him also.

How about offering Peyton Manning a great start on a coaching career? Do you think he could keep all of our recruits on board? I'm thinking others would flock here. I know he has never had coaching experience, but he was the coach on the field of a high-powered offense. He certainly would have name recognition and a high degree of credibility. However, I'm not giving up on Brohm yet.

Or have your AD just wander the building for the rest of the day until he finds a new coach. Might take less than an hour. I have seen it happen before.

I like the App State guy, Satterfield. I would also bring in Tee Martin as OC as I am assuming the Brohm Bros depart with him. I would try to keep Holt as DC with a big raise. He has shown that he can do well with OK athletes and recruiting has picked up. This year he did well with less than what he had last year.

Only if Brad Paisley is OC and Manning agrees that all plays may be called in the key of E.
