Sorry, but you guys weren't of draft age during Lyndon Johnson's lunatic war in Vietnam. I graduated from high school in 1966 and unless you had an education deferrment (college) or a medical deferrment, you were forced into the Army, forced into the Infantry and forced to go to war in Vietnam. That may sound like fascist conscription in some Orwellian fiction but that was what life was really like in America in the 1960s. Over 58,000 American troops died in Vietnam for no reason. Johnson said it was like saving the Alamo. The fool actually said that.

No president was worse than LBJ. Not Nixon, Carter, Obama, Trump nor Biden. Lyndon Johnson was a goon.

Goldwater wanted to bomb four strategic points in N Vietnam that would have ended the war immediately. LBJ campaigned that he was pulling all troops out of Vietnam. Goldwater was a General and knew how LBJ planned to escalate the war while staying clear of the four strategic points to prolong the war. Others had to hire many more workers to all work part-time so as not to pay for health care. Obama then bragged that employment went up and neglected to say that food stamps did.
