Swanigan update from Brian Snow

Cal is going to be a really tough team next year with or without Swanigan. To me it seems like the appeal of Cal (for Swanigan) is something like UK or Duke last year. Seeing what all those elite freshman could do together last year, I'm sure he thinks it could happen next year if all three of them played together. The only competition they would have would be Arizona, UCLA and maybe Oregon. The Pac 12 is weak. They should cruise through to the tournament and then who knows.
Oh ok.

Well, the possibility that Cal might be "really tough" with these Frosh is still not a better "business" decision than what's already in place, and proven, at Purdue.

I mean, depending on you definition of the word "business", ya know?

I would take Taylor Persons now since he seems to be ready to sign. He seems to be the best prospect we have had at point guard for several years. Like someone else said on this board" a bird in hand is worth 2 in the bush". He seems solid, maybe a tad slow but strong and plays tough defense. Just give Xavior Simpson the option to sign first then sign Persons.
Swainigan seems more trouble than he is worth to me. We are already talented and deep at center and power forward. Swanigan's addition would just push Taylor and/or Smotherman out of a chance for playing time. This is especially so when Swanigan looks like he just wants to play one year. In 2016/2017 when we will be in greater need of another good big man Swanigan might just leave. And then his presence next year just makes it harder to recruit a center in the 2016 class. He is more trouble than he is worth.
