I don't think half of these kids even care about anything "collegiate" anymore.Originally posted by bashfan:
I have been a PU fan for over 60 years, but if I had to chose between going to MSU or Pu, and I wanted to win a championship or get to the final 4, I would chose MSU. They have a proven track record and seem to always make a deep tourney run. PU on the other hand, seems to be happy just to make it to the Big Dance. Winners want to continue to be winners. It AJ stays, we will be a force with out Swanigan.

I cannot remember a contested recruiting battle Painter has won. Not since the Baby Boilers. Nothing surprising here.
Did we mention we have an Olympic diver?

This. We beat WF for Haas (before WF had Manning, thankfully), and, ummm, Ball St. for Weatherford, and well, I'm sure we beat someone else for someone. But no one who matters. Sigh, same old Painter.Originally posted by BoilerStutz:

Agreed. Maybe Painter would be better at a school like Yale. And Burke for that matter. If winning matters, Painter is not the guy for Purdue.Originally posted by BoilerStutz:
In Painter's defense, Burke needed to do something with Mackey. But that has been done, and now it is time for Painter to deliver.
I think Purdue recruiting underperforms in men's and women's basketball and football. Someone needs to determine if Purdue really cares and, if so, what to do about it.
It is not clear to me that Burke cares, and it is becoming rather clear that Mitch prefers an Ivy League model. That would be fine if Purdue were in the Ivy League.
