Swanigan: Front page ESPN

I've heard it before, but it's still crazy to think how hard this guy works. Surely he will improve at a faster pace than his opponents with that much work? Will we see an even "newer" Swanigan in two months come tourney time?

Amazing story for Caleb Swanigan and Mr Barnes. Biggie has had to endure some terrible things in his life.

I think, if nothing else, the article highlights the importance of a strong male figure in a person's life.

If you are in a position to be a mentor to a young person, do it. Especially a young man. Also, have some empathy for people that aren't fortunate to have one in their life.

Wow, that was a really nice in-depth article. While it had plenty of stuff we've probably read before, it also had lots of new little nuggets of information.

I found it interesting that Barnes said he didn't want Biggie living in a dorm or in a room with more than 1 roommate because he was afraid of the food choices he would end up making. Apparently, MSU's failure to address that issue was one of the reasons for the decommitment.

Also, at the very end of the article I found it interesting that Caleb admitted to being a bit closed off to everyone last year, and so focused on succeeding that he didn't take the time to enjoy everything that was happening around him. Sounds like he has reversed course on those things since then. Who knows, maybe he'll realize how much fun he's having in college and come back for one more year. ;)

I thought it also showed how silly the notion is that a guy worth $14 million would take in a 380 lb 8th grader in order to grab 3% of his pro basketball salary, 5 plus years down the road.
