Does that surprise anyone? Doesn't really bother me as I'd like to stay below the radar like others have suggested.

In general, I think rankings matter, but not as some care to think and I'm not worried about it. I just want to see us consistently beat some good teams and keep the bad losses to a minimum. Everything else will take care of itself. It doesn't bother me if we are 12 or 18 or whatever. These polls are terribly inaccurate anyways and its just a glorified popularity contest. I think we are ranked appropriately and with the B1G being down, the SOS will be weaker than normal and, as such, harder to move up.

I do believe that when human beings (let alone 18-21 year olds) get too much praise/pub, you tend to become overconfident and lose focus on the habits that got you there, so - yeah - let's keep our ranking on the underrated side.

The only reason I care about rankings is that a highly ranked team is easier for painter to sell on the recruiting trail.

Other than that, it's completely meaningless, especially this early in the season.

I think 12 would be more accurate with the only losses coming from a good Louisville team and Nova. If Purdue handles Iowa and UL beats IU coming up (and Purdue wins their games between them), Purdue may sneak up to 11 or 12. That would put Purdue at I believe 13-2.

Bad news is the big ten is appearing weaker this year, and we only have 3 more current top 25 games remaining (AP, kenpom), so rising in rankings will not be easy unless others fall.

Good news is that with our conference schedule, we should be in a prime position to win as a favored team.

Is that person giving us a 57% chance of winning the B1G right now?

Seems a bit uhh... optimistic.

Why don't those percentages add to 100?
