Brian Brohm sat behind Rodgers. Jeff Brohm (our head coach) played in west coast offenses in the prosMy gut is we'll have three WRs starting and 1 RB. The RB will be determined by the down and yardage. My gut says we won't have a huge 2 back power running game. We will have an air attack of 3000-3500 yards. Brohnm threw for over 4,000 yards in one season at Louisville. I think our offense will be much like Green Bay's. Brohm was there for three years losing out to some guy named Rogers. My money is on Zico and the ND transfer Holmes as two of the three. Holmes is making noise. he arrived late, but is learning fast, and showing he belongs. For the third WR, I'm not sure. We have some talented freshmen, and juco Wright. I believe the current depth chart is going to change dramatically and be filled with all newcomers. This isn't to slight our incumbent Wrs. But I'm very excited about ALL of the new WR recruits. More than any position, I'm excited about our entire WR core.
I agree. We dont have the o line to line up with 21 personnel and run the ball down the other team's throat. That's still the type of offense I expect to see in Gold and Black ! With 3 WRs and 1RB.
if we use a one back O, it'll be interesting to see how they keep all the backs happy.I agree. We dont have the o line to line up with 21 personnel and run the ball down the other team's throat.

Jones and Lankford have the ability to split out...in one of the open practices, there was a backfield of Jones and Worship and could easily have BLJ there as well to slide out to the slot. That puts a lot of teams in a situation where you are either bringing the safety down to cover the slot (leaves one on one on the outside) or a LB to cover Jones/BLJ which easily puts Purdue at an advantage. Schematically speaking, Brohm will give us a chance in games we shouldn't be in...depth is the question.if we use a one back O, it'll be interesting to see how they keep all the backs happy.
I admire your hustle, piboiler, SNLPatButch, BNNJDIRTI have a feeling Zico will be a starter, but unsure about the other two. I have a hard time believing Anthrop will be one of them. I watched Danny E catch him from behind on a long run in the spring game. He might have great hands, but lacks speed.
You just made the case for Anthrop in your post. A receiver with great hands is exactly what we need.I have a feeling Zico will be a starter, but unsure about the other two. "Nerdberts" I'm honestly laughing.I admire your hustle, piboiler, SNLPatButch, BNNJDIRT

Id rather have someone catch it and be caught from behind than a speedster burn a defender only to have it go through his hands.
Love them or hate them, the Patriots are a great example to emulate for getting the most out of second tier receivers. They focus on quickness, agility, and route running instead of straight line speed. Most the the game is played within 10-15 yards of the line of scrimmage, especially in a spread offense. You really just need one or two pure speed guys to stretch the field. Of course it helps to have an accurate as hell QB delivering the ball.I could see Anthony as a starter or playing significant time, if he can excel at getting open. Every team loves a receiver who can catch the ball. You need speed, and also route runners. Unfortunately, the past few years, our slower receivers were not able to fake out their defender to get open. they were either terrible getting off the line, or the defense knew our plays and was ready. it's nice to have a home run ball receiver, but it's even better to have that guy who can catch that 6 yard 3rd down pass in traffic for a first down. Every team needs a Gronk. and all he does is catch the pass. Eliminate the drops, and you eliminate the losses.
Patriots are a model you cant reproduce unless you have another Belichick.Love them or hate them, the Patriots are a great example to emulate for getting the most out of second tier receivers. He's getting acclimated, just made it in before camp started- I'm sure he will be one of our starters if he has the basics of the playbook learned.Haven't heard much about Holmes from ND - has he done anything in camp?
