I am looking forward to the start of Spring practice here in 2 weeks. It will be great to talk and hear
optimism about Purdue sports. The basketball board has too many trolls and sky is falling posts for me to even read and post over there right now.

I am expecting to the Spring game this year, which I have not done in several years. Hoping we get good weather for the Spring game, and the Midwest in general, because I am sick of Winter right now.

After the excitement of the bowl win at the end of '17 and the excitement of having a fun team to watch again, like all Boiler football fans, I am looking for a bigger second year under Coach Brohm. Let's Play Football! This year's Spring practice will be interesting to watch though, since we have several big question marks heading into Spring ball. even with an improved team. Some of these questions won't be answered this Spring obviously due to some of our best signees. from our best recruiting class in sometime, having an impact in several areas this Fall, especially in the secondary and WR.

One of the main things we will need to see is who will emerge for the defense. Except for Bailey and Thieneman, we are losing almost all our defensive starters. We have holes everywhere that are going to have to be filled. Holt's defense improvement was one of the main reason we went to a bowl this last year. They kept us in games even when our offense would sputter from time to time last year. Who is everyone expecting to have a big Spring for us on defense?

Offense will be the area that should carry us in 2018 due to having most of main guys back. Of course, we also have our highest rated recruit, Moore, not coming on campus until Fall camp, which some offensive schemes will be built specifically for him, but we will still have weapons this Spring. We have all RB starters back, and it will be interesting to see the battles there. Does anyone know how Faller and Worship are progressing from their surgeries though? Are they out for Spring?

Our line will continue to be better. I am hoping a couple of redshirt lineman will make the 2 deep this Spring, because we are going to need them too. We have quite a few of our WRs back. I am hoping that Zico, Wright, Edwards, Catlett and Hamilton make big strides. I am really interested in seeing how Anderson does coming in early. He really looks like he could be a playmaker for us. TE will be an area of strength again with both Herdman and Hopkins. I would like to see Pittman really come on too. He should factor in the mix for this next year.

QB will be interesting with Blough and Sindelar both out. Except for throwing drills, I am hoping Blough is out. I don't want him to come back too early. Sipe will make strides, since he lead the Scout team, but Plummer's progress will be who I am anxious to watch, since Brohm has put so much praise and hype into him being his #1 QB target last year. Who is everyone expecting to emerge on offense this Spring?

As far as PK, it would be nice if we could settle for one guy this year. With his leg strength, I still think Evans is our top option for that. Just my opinion.

Should be a fun spring as long as camp stays mostly injury free.

Will be interesting to see who plays linebacker and D line this fall. With the number of linebackers pretty low, and losing so much, I still think a grad transfer would be great.

A question in my mind will a WR or RB seeing a logjam in front of them request a position change to LB or CB/Safety to break into the two deeps. I know if Holt wanted their service, they should consider it.

I kind of think with the number of injuries RB get, Purdue probably needs all they have, and only recruited one this year. Hopefully the surgeries went well for Worship and Fuller.

Likely LB’s for next year start with Bailey and Barnes and after that I think there are some really solid young guys who can step in and play roles for Holt’s schemes. The key on defense will be finding some CB’s to cover as I think Holt can scheme up pressure against most of the OL’s Purdue will face next season.

I’ll be watching the battle between Plummer and Sipe on the offense as they likely will end up serving as a potential backup to Blough on opening day. I just don’t see Sindelar being able to not only recover but rehab and get into shape before the first game. I’d like that because the season starts off against Northwestern...but not optimistic. I think Plummer ends up winning that battle out as I don’t think Sipe made the strides they had hoped last year. Remember, in the bowl game had Sindelar not been able to play Brohm stated it would have gone full time to Sparks.

Thanks Nat.....always count on you for info.

That is a good sign Sipe or one of the other QB's is further along.

Love Sparks athletic ability, so I am sure he will contribute more this year anyway he can.

It will be interesting to see Plummer too. I think he flew under the radar after he committed.

Sparks still should see some gadget plays, but i think he has tremendous potential at WR.

Now that we won't even make the NCAA tournament in basketball all my attention is in football. I'm pumped to see our offense next year.

And I agree on Plummer being underrated. Another poster here claimed other big-name schools tried to poach him later in the process and I couldn't find anything to back that up, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Has anyone heard when this spring the open house will be for the new sports complex?

Monday is the start of practice. Lets Play Football!

Brohm announced today that Blough is actually participating in Spring practice. Never thought he would be ready. He is a fast healer that is for sure.

Surgery today is light years ahead of just 5-10 years ago.

After having gone through it as an "old guy", I'm amazed at what I'm able to do. And that I could do it so "quickly".
