Name me another coach that has lost as many players in 4 years as Gearlds. There may be 4-8 out of 340+ D1 teams. THIS level of players abandoning so didn't happen all over, only at places where the players have lost confidence in the coaches abilities.

IF anyone here believes Collier earned her minutes with her production, I got some ocean front property in Arizona to sell you. Its pretty obvious playing time was given out to her favorites, not to the best players or the ones with the highest ceiling to try and develop them. Couple this with severe lack of player development and its not hard to see why players that have ambition and pride in their game want to be somewhere that they can show out to their best ability.
Swanson has shown a great deal of upside that a competent coach can easily turn into a reliable starter on any team in the top 20-100+. Look at Learn and Kyle's production once they got to decent coaching.
I do believe Gearlds is trying to recruit over most players not named Jones. Puryear, Mccarthy, Gordon seem to have the 5 spot locked down. It's win now mode for CKG, she's going to recruit the best players she can to save her job. We're probably looking at what? 8-9 new players?
We need to get the roster to 12-14 for depth against injuries and because likely half the portal players will be non-producers. So, as of this minute we have 4 players coming back and two coming in; so that means 6-8 plus more if we have more go into the portal. Remember today is the first day they can declare if they played this year, and only Puryear has declared for sure she is returning as far as I have heard.
She's had flashes but if my job was on the line, I'd try to find someone more consistent. Obviously it doesnt hinge on one player, but CKG feels she needs to upgrade at the wings too. Could be a mutual split but I think it's more about CKG being honest and saying your playing time isn't guaranteed. I say that because her two most absolute can't lose players(if that's even a thing on a 10-19 team) are staying as of now. (Jones, Puryear).
I am looking for a warmer climate. How much are you asking for that property that you’re selling in Arizona? VBG. Everything id relative. For those who think we’re not losing much, Swanson would have been our second leading returning scorer. Of course second best in a very bad team is not actually great. But the dreamer in me was hoping she’d return a more consistent contributor next season. Good luck to her and to Poole in their future endeavors.
Michael, I don’t follow the women’s game like you do, I like above the rim basketball, my Boilers have had a nice run lately. As far as the transfers, the girls that left didn’t impress me much, if teams are longing for Swanson and Poole good for the girls, not sure it’s good for the teams. Kids leave now, that’s the way it is for most teams, it’s happening at Purdue in even greater numbers because it seems the admin doesn’t care much about winning, my guess is most Purdue fans don’t care as well, there’s like 6-8 of us that post here, it’s sort of like we’re great friends there’s so few of us. Speaking of which, hope DocRon is ok, haven’t seen any posts in a while.
That you don't follow women's bball much is why you are susceptible to the BS that Pride is trying to sell that we are not losing players at a MUCH higher level than other teams. That is simply not true and a cursory look around the Big Ten alone shows we are FAR and away the worst program for losing players year after year under SV and KG.
For context, she also shot the 2nd most shots behind Lombard at 251 while being 5th in minutes played. 7th in FG % on the team.
Some like Poole were highly recruited to 50-60 ranked players, think both Reynolds were as well. Coach G has done a poor job, I also think it’s more than her though, don’t think the athletic department cares that much about the product.
Maybe Madison is returning? That actually would help a little. My guess would be Katie Davidson from IU Indy, step up in conference, she had really good stats for the Jags.
I never ever, ever, ever thought Women's Basketball at Purdue would only be here for a Title IX reason. It seems like that now though.

Numbers don’t lie, but stats do. If we go by stats our best player was Collier. I usually listen to the Purdue radio announcers when watching games on tv. One irritating thing both men’s and women’s announcers (more often than I’d like ) point out is how low percentage 3 point shooters often burn us out with a high amount of made 3’s. To me those are stats lies. Does anyone researching stats looks at how other teams defense them? Because we leave them wide open until we’ve been burned bad and guess what, once we start covering them miraculously the stars quit lying.
I'm guessing you're referring to 3 pt% but that can't be our only stat to determine our best player. Collier was our best 3 pt shooter imo, the more in depth analytics will tell you most of her 3's were wide open shots but they'd also tell you Swanson forced alot of contested shots(and airballed a bunch).
Yes, among guards: best 3 point shooter, best assist to turnover ratio, second in minutes, third in block shots , 4th in steals. Not bad stats for player that jumped 3 levels to D-1 in a power4 conference.

Not bad, but I still don't see how those stats say she's our best player. Most people would gravitate to ppg, fg%, reb, and ast. I dont have a subscription to Kenpom but I think they rank players more in depth efficiency wise. That would be interesting to see who our top rated players were.
