WEST LAFAYETTE - Purdue junior guard Isaiah Thompson has submitted his name into the NCAA transfer portal and is expected to leave the program, the Journal & Courier has learned.
This season, the Zionsville native started 20 of 37 games for the Boilermakers, who exited the NCAA tournament following Friday's Sweet 16 loss to Saint Peter's in Philadelphia.
Thompson, whose brother, P.J., played at Purdue and is currently the director of player development, was replaced in the starting lineup by Eric Hunter Jr. midway through the season. Thompson averaged 4.2 points this season.
Thompson was one of the team's top 3-point shooting, hitting 42.4%, and made the fourth-most shots from beyond the arc with 36. His season-high 18 points at Iowa in January helped carry the Boilermakers to a victory in Iowa City.
