I know people have mix feelings about the guys who run Sleepers Media but they said it best - first part of the season was Braden trying to run sets and get guys involved, now he is just hunting for himself and put the team on his back.

This is going to be like that Carsen team, if he gets on a heater come tourney time, watch out.

Beef, this is an out of left field team question and I’d also like @tjreese to weigh in, but….

Would it be crazy to think Braden leaves for the nba after this year? I would say he’s not quite there to be in the first round. But some chatter on social media about it (no high profile guys), but was a bit premature (IMO), to think he’d leave after this year.

He's got a lot more help (potentially) than Carsen did.

Carsen was a shooter primarily and scorer next. In the tourney he did what he already did previously but made shots at a high rate in every game but one I think. Braden is more complete with all the things he does. Purdue wants Braden to score when he has the ball, but not near like Carsen because THAT was a LOT of Carsen's job. Braden has a much fuller plate of things outside of scoring that he must do and so "other" things are on his mind in addition to just scoring.

During his freshmen year I told Dustin (who was a shooter turned Pg) that when Zach was gone it would be easier for Braden to improve his shooting since it would become more of his job whereas his freshmen year it was to absorb all the defensive pressure and "wait" with the pressure until he could get the ball to Zach or some set and so "shooting" was an after thought that required the mind to change from who needs the ball to just shoot the ball. I posted such a couple of years ago.

Relative to pro ball, I have never asked any intentions and that goes back to Bruce Parkinson when Austin (Dustin's pg in high school) was being recruited. I remember Bruce saying he would read things and it was as though someone was sitting in his living room writing on forums ( I have an idea who). That told me that parents want a private, personal side to their lives and I understand that. It was either last year or the year before I saw Ginny early in the gym sitting where she sits and started to go over to see her when Braden who had been out on the court came over to visit with her and so I stopped and turned around so they could visit. Braden left to go back on the court and I went over to see her and told her I was coming earlier until I saw Braden come over and she thanked me. Basketball cuts into family time and so I understood that moment. I can say however and you know that Braden was playing out in California last summer with some pros and overseas players. I also believe that Braden wants to be a pro AND wants to win a championship. Whether those things go together or not remain to be seen and no doubt there will be "things" balanced, but for a pass first pg that can score just as well but prefers helping others score...it isn't hard to imagine that the "team" like pass first will weigh heavily on his mind as his "natural" inclination... :)
