Shrewsberry left a mess!

It was the perfect storm. Top 5 players were seniors. Not much in the Jr or SR classes and then the coach leaves. Freshmen and recruits not vested in the school or program.

This won't be fixed in the next year or two.

By all accounts good coach and man, just thinking staying at PSU longer than two years might have been a better quality move………but that’s not the landscape these days……

If he left because cupboard was bare, I assume he’s the caretaker who did so………so much for building a program, committing to a school etc…..

This is a weird thread. Would you stay at a job you would rather not to "build something" and "commit" to that company? Or would you take the job you would rather have?

Edit: Shrewsbury took PSU to its first NCAAT in 12 years and got them their first NCAAT victory in 22, but he should "build something" at a school who clearly doesn't care about basketball? The gave Pat Chambers 8 freaking years to never make the tourney - I thought the tournament was the only thing that mattered?

For those who thought Micah left the Penn State Program in better shape.

On top of that they currently have no committed recruits for 2023.
He won the first NCAA tournament game for the school in over 20 years. That’s all that matters.

some of you need to read the story that was linked to here a couple of weeks ago. He has a life long love of ND football and used to coach somewhere close to SB where he would drive by the arena and wish....

He could have stayed and built the program until they were consistently good enough to lose to double-digit seeds in the tourney every year. Thank goodness Purdue has Painter.
