SEC now has whopping $30-45 million exit fee plus two years notice

Exit fee was previously zero and no notice.

SECEXIT
And they were the only conference with a ZERO exit fee.

As other conferences fought over exit fees, and even increased them, over the past decade, the SEC was the lone holdout. After all, who would ever want to leave the SEC?

Seems like an adjustment to be in alignment with the other conferences.

Surprised they didn't do it before now. They're creating an environment that I'm not sure I'd want to be a part of, as an A.D.

My guess is, ESPN is forcing this.

It's a theory.

😉

It's also possible that, while attempting to build a "super conference", not all schools were on board with the bullsh*t they're shoveling.
Yeah, i think it has more to do with the 10 year, $3B deal they signed for tv rights. The conference doesnt want to upset that apple cart.

They just made a final 4 four years ago (as opposed to 40 years for us)
Yeah but they actually haven't been in the SEC as long as some of the others. And that was a surprise run to the FF. I don't know, just seems like they're not in the same ballpark.

Where are they going? Big 12 is dead
Maybe some schools are looking at a bleak future of forever being the bitches of Bama and Georgia and sniffing for a better option? Perhaps South Carolina or Florida to the ACC, Mizzou to the Big Ten, Arky to the Big XII?

But it won’t last forever. Bama was an also ran for 15 years before saban. The likelihood of following up the best coach ever with another coach capable of dominating is minimal.

Georgia will get antsy and fire Kirby.

Some possible scenarios there. It wouldn't surprise me if there are a lot of unhappy campers in the SEC.

I would eat my hat if Mizzou ever found it's way to the B1G.

Not a fit at all.

I've always wondered if Vanderbilt might ever want to get out. They seem like a cultural misfit.
Where would they go? They've been in the conference for at least fifty years, and I'm sure they enjoy getting those SEC TV checks.

If they could walk away from the money, the ACC would be a better cultural fit with probably no worse travel and a much better chance to be competitive in football.

This is such an awful take.

There’s nobody in the fan base that wants this.

We’ve all seen first hand how well firing your coach to compete with Saban goes for the rest of the conference….why would we let go the guy that’s closest to him?

UGA is the favorite on Monday for a reason. Our worst game of the year vs. Bama best game of the year in the SECCG…in a game that at least to UGA in the grand scheme of things meant far far less to our final goal than theirs.

If UGA doesnt win this year there’s always the next. And the next. And the next where we’ll be conceivably more loaded talent wise over time.

The only way we fire Kirby is if he’s not running a top 5 program and with our recruiting I don’t see that happening in the near future. People will be as patient as the talent/results on the field bear. I’m not mad he can’t beat Saban….nobody else really can either.

What about Baylor to the B1G? Strong BB and FB programs, big Texas TV markets…

Yeah, there's no way they fire Kirby while UGA is consistently a top five program. I grew up in Atlanta and still follow them--he's successful and well liked. They'd have to have 2 or 3 really bad years for him to even be close to a hot seat.

So Georgia's fanbase/admin isn't as impatient as Auburn Fla's and LSU's?
