Have your season predictions changed after watching game one? What are they now?

I'll stick with my original thought: 5-7 with an invite to a bowl that doesn't get its conference alignments filled because there are 200 bowl games (tic). That will probably put Purdue against a #2 or #3 team from the MWC/MAC/Sunbelt...or a 6-8 from a P5 conference.

Might hedge it 1 game closer to bowl elgibility.
4-8 was my pre-season expectation. 5-7 can be our realistic high water mark this year. Games against Missouri, Minnesota, & Indiana are all toss up games. Ohio, Rutgers and Illinois are wins I'm counting at this moment. Nebraska at Home, Northwestern and Iowa on the road are still programs we're trying to elevate to be on par with and are likely a year away.
Get a win against 1 of the toss up teams and 1 of the teams we shouldn't beat and that is the 5-7 season.
Could a 6-6 season happen? You bet! If they continue to play inspired like last night and win the turnover margin, we're going bowling this year. Open the piggy bank and pay bonuses for the coaching staff at the Holidays. I'm sure that last part is already in their contracts, but wanted to say anyways. ;) Keep Holt and the Brohm brothers as long as we can...please!

If Brohm gets Purdue to a bowl game, does he stand a chance at COY?

After watching the game last night I think that Purdue has a chance to win some games that I thought would be questionable. There are some games that Purdue should win and now I think the list grown to games they can win.

I think it opens the field greatly, especially after seeing some fellow Big Ten members struggle mightily. Minnesota, Northwestern, Illinois, Iowa and Nebraska were all fortunate to escape with a win against what should be inferior teams. Rutgers could possibly be more challenging that we expected. It is week 1 and everyone has that warm up game so it could all mean nothing, but we will have a chance to be in every single one of those games. That gives us 9 games left that we should have a legitimate shot in (excluding only Michigan and Wisconsin). Now, don't get me wrong, I am not sitting here saying they will win 9. That is crazy talk at this point. We will probably still be fortunate to be bowl eligible, but at least now it seems as if that is a reasonable possibility if we compete week in and week out like they did last night. Even before yesterday, most of our opinions were tempered at 3-5.

I'll stick with my original prediction of 4 guaranteed wins and a possible 6 win season. Louisville IS a high octane offense and also one with a Qb that can do multiple things well. I see wins over Illinois, IU, Rutgers and Ohio with possible wins over NW and Minn. the ball could bounce our way against Iowa and missou, but I don't expect it.

Admittedly, our defense gave up a lot of points and yards, but we played against a team that averaged over 40 points last year, and we actually did make several goal line stands holding them to 0 points and Fgs.

beating Ohio is a MUST win. We must start our season at least at 1-3 to have any momentum.

staying w/ 4.

I think we'll be all right if we don't punt to anybody seems like every time they've gotten good yards off of punt return. Punt it to the sidelines where it goes out of bounds give other team no opportunity to return it. So far from what I've seen special teams is going to be a problem. Team does look much better than the previous years though. I think we got the right hire in place give him time to get players here and I think Purdue will be back

I think 7-5 is possible. Consider that we should have beat Louisville. The player ejection killed us. However, the importance of preseason was getting the team to believe in themselves. After yesterday, they do.

I believe IU will be an easier victory than Minn. one reason is it's the last game. it's IU. the players will be pumped up to win. We almost won last year. and if the season goes as I predict, we could be playing that game to go 6-6, and IU may already come into that game with 6 wins and less motivation to win.

What do we know about ohio? Any good?
Played a bad FCS team and only threw 19 times. Solich will run the ball first which plays to Purdue's strength in the middle of the defense while allowing McCollum/Danny E/Bailey to make plays outside against the run. If Purdue can force Ohio to become one dimensional and not give up long passes down the seam (UL did that very wel), Purdue should get the win here.

I'm not looking for style points...I just want to see wins. When Brohm gets his players in to Purdue, then I'll look for style points in a game like this.

I always felt the Danny Hope teams were 10 plays between 4-8 and 8-4. There are 8 wims on this schedule. With what I saw from this coaching staff, I think we can execute on most of those 10 critical plays. The only unknown at this point is our FG team.

If they can duplicate the effort, keep the intensity level high and the Players stay completely focused on Ohio U., I feel good about the results Friday Night.
This team can't relax for a moment with where our talent level is currently. But, with the Coaches we have now, I will go into every game believing we have a chance to win!
Let's Play Football!

Very important to steer clear of injuries with our lack of depth.
Only Jones that I know of from Saturday night.
That was a huge positive against a tough opponent

I couldn't find the original prediction thread. I thought this was worth a bounce to look back and reflect on.

I goofed. I thought we could beat Rutgers and possibly Nebraska or Iowa. Five more points via a couple of key catches and we would be 8-4. I knew the O would improve dramatically, but I am extremely pleased with the job Nick Holt did.

BOOM!!! 6-6 did happen. What a year. With hiccups of Nebraska and Rutgers, I didn't see this as a possible outcome. What a difference a month makes. Great job Purdue players and Coaches.
