Time to be determined yet. However, season opener with Penn State moved to Thursday, September 1st, from Saturday, September 3rd. I am assuming it will probably be around 7:00pm on Thursday night, which would give our team prime time to show the country what our team can do this year. Time to black out the white out in the season opener!!

Terrible for out-of-town fans. I have about a three-hour drive home. We were going to bring the camper and make a long weekend of it. My job does not allow a day off immediately prior to or after a holiday.

You need to quit whoever you're working for. That's the most asinine policy I've ever heard of...

I've got about the same drive and really don't mind this change. In a lot of ways I prefer it over a 12 ET kick on Saturday. Fortunately I can do the overnight stay (and BTW the schedule change made hotels more available and affordable) and take some time off on Friday.

why should a person have to take a day off to go to a football game because it was rescheduled because of decision by TV , for me Friday is the worst day for me to take off work due to what I have to do.

I worked non-union and managed union plants. No one ever had a policy of not being able to take a vacation day prior or after a holiday...
I work in a large company.. the policy, likely at his company as well, is that if you take a day off prior to a paid vacation day, you must also use vacation for said day. Old boy isn’t down for the old 2 for 1… aka cry me a river madone

Every company is different. Hard to come down on oldgoldandproud if we don't know his job type.

For me it works better because it's hard for me to take Saturdays off. Everyone is in a different situation.

That's not what he's talking about. Everyone has to use a vacation day for the day before or after a holiday. What he's talking about is that he can't take a vacation day before or after a holiday.

No no.. say I wanna take the day after Labor Day off at my job.. I have to use two vacation days.. one for the day I’m taking and one for LABOR DAY also.. can’t take the day before or after a holiday off or you don’t get the holiday day

And you should start a new job on Friday and quit it on a Monday so that you get paid for the weekend which you don't work.

You want my bosses number man? You and everyone on here can give him a piece of mind for all I care.. his name is Jeff, he looks like Barney rubble and if there’s one thing he despises it’s working …
Thank you for just clarifying the policy and not complaining. Those older policies should be dropped in favor of proper management control and adjusted policies, or a healthy PTO program to allow for one/two of those types of days. Would help to retain talent. Hopefully not an issue for you.

Yes, This is our policy basically, what I was talking about

Based on what I saw with hotel bookings, there were a lot of Penn State fans planning to make this trip. With this change, perhaps not? Some Purdue fans will have a negative impact, too. However, it opens a door to a few other Purdue fans that have family/work obligations on Saturdays. Hopefully the net wash is positive for the home team.
