Scrimmage Thoughts

Or have time on our hands and a desire to communicate more than we do ... or in some cases, having a huge desire for validation LOL OH, and a few with ODD (Opposition Defiant Disorder)

Plus.....for some of us who cannot be near the programs or travel to the games, it's a great way to keep that Old Gold & Black connection.......some might call it a curse......this Boiler calls it a blessing.....

Wisconsin has been a positional D team for many years now and there is nothing wrong with that. Position D says play the odds on contesting a shot, but stay in good rebounding position and not take chances...a willingness to lose some easy baskets by not getting turnovers, but not giving up as easy a shot and being in position for the boards. Even in position D they will get the inside (ball side) hand in the lane even if the body is still not over committed. Perhaps with the rule emphasis on fouls on the perimeter...positional D is the way to go? 460,000 living alumni and a few dozen of us are all that beat this basketball strategy around...we truly are the much, much, much more basketball minded alumni! :)
Nice to see a poster who actually understands the game and sharing knowledge.

Thank you. I consider that a compliment whether worthy or not.

Yes, definitely worthy. Too many times there appear to be people who are just shouting at the screen that they know the game when it is pretty clear they do not. It gets a little old to hear constant whining and moaning with little to no substance. For those that played, coach, or studied the game...We can tell and appreciate your level of shared knowledge.

"Shell drills" are a teaching tool, not a specific defense. I know you are hoping for zone but I don't see it happening.
Somewhere is a previous post I wrote that Vince told me they haven't leaned at all to a match-up zone and that it was all man. Even suggested no "INCREASE" in individual man D work over previous years. No reason to think based upon conversation with Vince that anything other than Man will be used this year.

Now, it is possible in a rare circumstance that Matt "could" use a zone for a possession or so, but my money is on not doing that...

Agree. And I am happy about it. Love well played man to man in any of its variants. I have used zones with some good results but I hate it when it's just an excuse to play lazy D.
