I don't know if any of you are from the San Diego area, but I will be there for some business this weekend, wondering if there are any great bars around Downtown/Gaslamp to watch the Purdue vs. Notre Dame game this weekend?

Been about 10 years or so since I've been there, but cannot remember any bars with TV in the gas lamp area, which I think was 4th or 5th Street? hotel will have it on espn2 though I'd you can't find a bar close to or in the gas lamp area. perhaps Google is your best chance?

I haven't been to SD since '02, but I think I can remember some places. The most fun I had in the Gaslight District was at Dick's Last Resort. No TV that I remember, but it is loud and you have to be careful not to get overrun by the food fight that always seems to break out. Good local band played a lot of Santana during the late hours. I would go there after the game in the evening.

Head on out to the west side of Mission Bay to the location on the north side of the wooden roller coaster in Belmont Park. West Mission Bay Drive dead ends into this location. The street is called Ventura Place. I don't remember the name of the bar, but it is open without glass in the windows and doors. It will be open during the early afternoon, which is game time. They will have plenty of TV's to watch and it would be quiet enough to hear the sound. It is about 5 businesses in from the beach.

If you find these places, hoping they are still there, let us know on this thread if you stayed, how was the food and did you enjoy the game.

Then if you have time on another day, go to Coronado Island for a Mexican restaurant. It will be on Orange Ave between 1st and 2nd, if I remember correctly. I liked that place. Hope it is still there as well. No TV's but their fried ice cream is the best.

Have fun, and Go Boilers!

I lived in San Diego for 15 years until this past June. Henry's Pub in the Gaslamp on Fifth Ave. is the Purdue viewing spot and will most certainly have a gamewatch organized. It even has Purdue and Drew Brees memorabilia on the walls. Enjoy San Diego!

The Hotel del Coronado has the best breakfast buffet I've ever seen.....amazing and as bountiful as a king's banquet.....at least that is what I remember though it's been a few years.

Enjoy your trip.
